The initiative came following the recognition of Hanoi’s restaurants with Michelin stars, a highly regarded award in the culinary world that has put the city's gastronomic scene in the spotlight. Of the 103 restaurants nationwide selected for the Michelin Guide, Hanoi has 48, including three Michelin-starred restaurants, 13 Bib Gourmand-awarded affordable eateries, and 32 Michelin-selected restaurants, along with one Michelin Young Chef Award winner. (Photo: VNA) Phnom Penh (VNA) – The delegation of Vietnamese athletes with disabilities has obtained successes beyond expectations at the 12th ASEAN Para Games, scheduled to officially wrap up in Cambodia on late June 9. By the end of June 8, when competitions of most sports had completed, Vietnam gained 66 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals. These results helped Vietnam secure the third position on the medal standings, following Indonesia (153 gold medals) and Thailand (123) and much outperforming the fourth-placed Malaysia (46). Prolonged drought takes heavy toll on Vietnam’s largest hydropower reservoir
Sweltering temperatures have hit various northern parts of Vietnam, leaving water in the Son La hydropower reservoir, the largest of its kind in the country, reaching critically low levels and thereby putting stress on power generation and supply as well as the livelihoods of local people. Over the past few days, during which the northwestern region saw temperatures nearly reach 40 degrees Celsius, the Son La and Lai Chau hydropower plants, located in the namesake provinces, respectively, were almost inactive. Xoi Bat in Ho Chi Minh City was the only sticky rice eatery in Vietnam to be named amongst the 29 establishments to Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand list. Bib Gourmand recognizes restaurants and eateries which serve great food at moderate prices. A total of 103 restaurants and eateries in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, including Xoi Bat, were honored by Michelin Guide on Tuesday. The Michelin Guide is world renowned guidebook which has been reviewing and recognizing exceptional restaurants around the world since 1900. Vietnam’s Ninh Thuan ready to welcome tourists to first fruit festival
A fruit festival will kick off in Ninh Son District in Ninh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam for the first time on June 16 in an attempt to woo local and international tourists. The two-day fruit fest will be held along a section of Anh Dung Street in Tay Son Town by the Ninh Son District administration in collaboration with Charm Group. As part of a series of unique and attractive sport, cultural and tourism activities in the province to respond to UNESCO’s recognition of the pottery art of Vietnam’s Cham ethnic group as intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection, the fest is expected to delight visitors with a variety of local fruits. In a directive released Thursday on electricity saving, he warns that the power situation is challenging now and will remain so in the coming years with demand increasing. Economical and efficient use of electricity is the solution to ensuring energy security, the directive says. People should use energy-efficient electrical equipment, switch off electrical devices when leaving the room, only use air conditioners when absolutely necessary but setting them at not less than 26 degrees Celsius. People should avoid using incandescent light bulbs and install rooftop solar power systems. The country should reduce electricity use by 2% a year and power losses in transmission lines to less than 6% by 2025. By 2030 at least 50% of all office and residential buildings should use rooftop solar power. Only LED bulbs should be used in street lights by 2025. ASEAN Para Games 12: Vietnam among top three in medal ranking

(Photo: VNA) Phnom Penh (VNA) - As of 8:30 pm on July 8, the Vietnamese delegation pocketed 66 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals, ranking third in the medal tally after Indonesia and Thailand at the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia. Although there is one more official competition day on June 9 at ASEAN Para Games 12, Vietnam is certain of the third place in the medal tally because it has left fourth-placed Malaysia far behind. Malaysia had won 46 gold, 38 silver and 29 bronze. On June 8, swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu bagged one more gold medal, one silver and one bronze, becoming the most successful Vietnamese female athlete at ASEAN Para Games 12 with a total five gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
