CMSC navigates reforms and challenges at SOEs
Phan Van Son, director of General Department under the Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises In Vietnam’s quest for economic prosperity, the Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) stands out as a sentinel overseeing the ownership in 19 pivotal state-owned enterprises (SOEs), each playing diverse roles across 16 varied sectors. According to Phan Van Son, director of General Department at the CMSC, the journey, while dotted with accomplishments, has many challenges. “The commission acts as a dedicated agency, symbolising state ownership in enterprises, rendering them guardians of state assets,” said Son. PAN presents computers to schools in Phu Tho province

The 35 beneficiaries are third year students with a CPA of 2.5/4 or higher and competent in English. Martin Thorvaldsson, corporate social responsibility (CSR) director of Exness Group shared, “We hope that this scholarship will help the students and also indirectly help the country develop further. We had some difficult beginnings to become the big company we are today. Twelve villas illegally built at the Ocean View Nha Trang project in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam are currently undergoing demolition due to exceeding their designated number of floors. Authorities in Nha Trang City, the capital of Khanh Hoa, began dismantling five out of the 12 villas in question earlier this month, using the city’s budget to cover the total cost of over VND9.7 billion (US$397,800), according to Nguyen Cong Danh, chairman of the People’s Committee of Vinh Truong Ward, where the property is located. The Nha Trang administration expects to collect the fees from the villa owners later. Owners who do not pay the fees will see their bank accounts frozen and their land plots unavailable for any transactions. Việt Nam spent nearly $1 billion on gasoline imports in 8 months

This represents an increase of 19 per cent in volume and 36.8 per cent in value. For the eight months of the year, the country imported 7.22 million tonnes of petroleum of all types, worth $5.88 billion. Compared to the same period in 2022, it rose 22.2 per cent in volume but was down 5.5 per cent in value. The volume of imported diesel reached almost 4 million tonnes, a rise of 18.5 per cent. It accounted for 55 per cent of the country's total imported fuel. Meanwhile, Việt Nam bought 1.48 million tonnes of gasoline from the international market, up 38.4 per cent year-on-year and accounting for 20 per cent of the total import.
