Seventeen groups of contestants were given the "Viet Nam Talents 2007" awards at a ceremony in Ha Noi Tuesday. The prize honors creative young talents having produced both widely-applied products and potential products. Out of 200 products designed by individuals and groups nationwide, 17 were chosen for the final round. The first prize for potential products, worth VND100 million (around US$6,250), went to the "Portals Operating System" produced by the Tia Chop Viet group of the Hi-tech Solutions Joint-Stock Company. The grand prize for applied products was given to the "AI Vietnam" group for their invention of a system for "online study and exam solutions". Among distinguished guests in attendance was Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, who doubles as Minister of Education and Training, as well as other Party leaders. Viet Nam’s got talent charms audiences
HA NOI -- Child dancers Dang Quan and Bao Ngoc have won the debut season of Viet Nam's Got Talent, beating three other contenders at the finals held in HCM City. The winners were voted in by audience members after each pair's final performance. Dang Quan, 11 and Bao Ngoc, 7 were awarded VND400 million (nearly US$20,000) for their charming dance routine that combined dance sports and ballet moves. Their performance wowed the judges and audience as well as millions of television viewers. Their dance routine, titled War and Peace, conveyed a significance message, said stage artist Thanh Loc, one of the show's judges. Quan, who began learning dance sports at the age of 8, has already won several national-level competitions in Ha Noi, HCM City and Hai Duong. Ngoc is a member of the Hoa Mi Dance Club in Ha Noi. Cinema blockbusters head to Viet Nam
Starting from next year, Viet Nam Television (VTV) will provide its viewers a chance to watch well-known local and foreign films on Sunday evenings. From January 8, VTV1 will broadcast the US's Gone with the Wind, Russia's Battleship Potemkin, the US's High Noon, Japan's Rashomon, Bengali drama Pather Panchali-Song of the Little Road, and US drama Philadelphia. According to schedule, foreign films will be shown from January to April while local movies will be aired from May to August. The last four months of the year will be exclusively devoted to new VTV films.
