The heavy downpour was the result of the southwest monsoon, which has been picking up strength, according to Le Dinh Quyet, an official from the southern hydro-meteorological station. The Energy Observer, the world’s first hydrogen-powered and zero-emission vessel, is currently on a stopover in Ho Chi Minh City as part of its five-year global odyssey. The ship arrived at Khanh Hoi Port in District 4 on June 18 and is expected to stay in the southern Vietnamese metropolis until June 29. Indian naval ships begin three-day visit to Ho Chi Minh City
Two Indian naval ships, INS Sahyadri and INS Kadmatt, carrying more than 500 crew members arrived at Nha Rong Wharf on Friday, marking the start of a three-day friendship visit to Ho Chi Minh City. The visit is part of bilateral defense cooperation activities to enhance ties between the two navies and also mark the 50th anniversary of the countries’ diplomatic relations this year. During their stay, the Indian delegation is set to pay courtesy calls to Ho Chi Minh City leaders, visit the high commands of Military Region 7 and Naval Region 2, pay tribute to Vietnam’s late President Ho Chi Minh, visit local historical relic sites, and take part in sport exchanges with officers and soldiers of Naval Region 2. Fire engulfs paint shop in downtown Ho Chi Minh City
Serious damage was recorded when a painting shop in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City burst into flames on Friday morning. The fire broke out at the painting shop on Hai Ba Trung Street at around 6:30 am on Friday. A failed attempt to control the blaze by local people led to flames spreading to a house block next door. The number of child inpatients at the respiratory department of Children’s Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City has markedly increased to the extent that medical workers have added more beds along hallways. Despite the added beds, the respiratory department at the District 10-based hospital remains overloaded by the inpatient spike. Doctors and medical workers struggle to tend to each patient while the children's relatives wrestle against the scorching conditions to take care of them.
