The second season of the Victory Cup has arrived, with new candidates and categories up for voting to honour national sportsmen. The race for the so-called 'Việt Nam Sport Oscar' kicked off in Hanoi. The award is believed to be the biggest national prize for athletes who have competed and brought home success. "After holding the awards for the first time last year, we saw it having a great impact on our athletes. They have worked harder in training and competed stronger in tournaments," said Tran Duc Phan, head of the organising board. "I myself see this as a positive way to harvest more achievement, as well as see the anticipation in the players as the award has not been announced yet for this year," said Phan, who is also the deputy head of the VN Sports Administration. Marketing students vie for Think & Action contest Kieu Giang By Kieu Giang in HCMC The HCMC University of Economics will put on its first marketing contest entitled “CMO Think & Action” from August 15 to September 4 for students to show the marketing knowledge they have learned at their schools. Vietnam to vie at billiards tournament in France
Vietnam's billiard player Ma Xuan Cuong will depart for France on November 18 to vie at the forthcoming 2012 AGIPI Billiards Master at the invitation of the host country. The tournament will gather a pool of leading billiard players all over the world. Cuong, from Ho Chi Minh City, is ranking 29th among the world's best players. The event is a great opportunity for city-based families to have some fun with great food, on and off-stage shows and popular games in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. La Vie upgrades production line By Huu Thang - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC - La Vie Vietnam Co. on Friday inaugurated its most advanced European production line for its bottled mineral water in the Mekong Delta's Long An Province. The company's products hold the lion's share of about 31% of the domestic market, executive director Gilles Duc told the Daily. La Vie plans to raise its market share by 10 percentage points next year with the help of the new line and the expansion of its second plant in Hung Yen Province. The products are hygienically extracted from deep underground water sources and supplemented with necessary minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. La Vie mineral water brands have been awarded prizes for hygiene by the Ministry of Health.
