Situated in the north-eastern province of Quang Ninh, Ha Long Bay has been listed as one of the 10 most beautiful destinations for 2022, as selected by the Canadian newswire The Travel. Ha Long Bay has been twice recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site The Travel stated that Ha Long Bay, which has twice been recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is the Vietnamese representative to make the list, coming in fifth place. July 21, 2022 by en.vietnamplus.vn

Women of Red Dao ethnic minority in their traditional attire. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Vietnam has climbed four places on World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Index 2022 in the past year, from 87th to 83rd place out of 146 countries, with a score of 0.705/1. The increase is thanks to "mild improvements" recorded in closing the gender gaps across the four main components of the index: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. In terms of closing the gap in Economic Participation and Opportunity, Vietnam is ranked 31st, behind countries like Sweden (5th), the US (22nd), Kenya (6th), and regional neighbours like Laos (1st), Thailand (15th), or the Philippines (16th), out of 146 countries assessed. Indicators at this level reveal that lower workforce participation and lower parity in workforce participation have both contributed to poorer gender outcomes, the report said. “While parity in … [Read more...] about Vietnam moves up four places on 2022 Global Gender Gap Index

This is based on the decision of the German domestic authorities,” the note continued. “For those who have already applied for a visa, the Embassy will send a separate notice.” The information immediately caused concern for many Vietnamese people who were planning to travel to Germany or soon plan to visit relatives. Spain backpedals on denial of Vietnam’s new passport

August 8, 2022 by tuoitrenews.vn

The Embassy of Spain in Vietnam has decided to recognize a new Vietnamese passport, reversing its suspension a week before, according to the diplomatic mission’s announcement on Monday morning. The Spanish Embassy said that it completed the mandatory technical consultations with the authorities in Spain and came to the conclusion that the new Vietnamese passport, in blue-violet color, includes the essential details required by international regulations. Therefore, the embassy has resumed the acceptance for processing visa applications with the blue-violet passport and a valid identity document starting Monday. The embassy explained that since the place of birth is mandatory information in Schengen visa applications, applicants holding the blue-violet passport must prove their birthplace by presenting a valid Vietnamese identity document, in which the said information is stated. The embassy, however, noted that Schengen member countries that do not recognize those new … [Read more...] about Spain backpedals on denial of Vietnam’s new passport

Make it easier to live and work in Vietnam, expats urge

August 11, 2022 by e.vnexpress.net

Having coming to Vietnam five years ago to start a business, Dutchman Wouter Luijten has many good things to say about living in the country. "Vietnamese food and general hygiene are pretty good compared to some other countries I have lived in and there is enough work for people with knowledge." Given the ongoing inflation worldwide, Luijten said Vietnam remained "extremely affordable." However, he said Vietnam lags behind in policies that would make it easy for foreigners to work and live in the country. "The huge amount of paperwork in general is my largest negative point for Vietnam." In an email to VnExpress International , Luijten said he was currently outside Vietnam waiting for a new visa, "despite my investments in Vietnam and my very significant tax contributions to the country." "Immigration has been a mess after Covid and I'm not the only one. From visa agents I hear thousands of people are waiting for their resident permits to be processed," he said. Luijten … [Read more...] about Make it easier to live and work in Vietnam, expats urge

Facilitating recovery of Vietnam’s yarn sector in midst of US policy enforcement

August 7, 2022 by vir.com.vn

What are the concerns surrounding the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) implementation among Vietnamese garment exporters to the US? Association chairman Vu Duc Giang Some of the concerns are real. Since the UFLPA became effective in June, Vietnam has witnessed certain impacts on its garment exports to the US. Vietnam has maintained its position as the world’s third-largest cotton importer with a volume of 1.5 million tonnes per year. This includes 800,000 tonnes of cotton imported from the US, accounting for 60 per cent of the total imports. In January 2021, US Customs and Border Protection announced a ban on raw fibres, apparel, and textiles made from Xinjiang-grown cotton, which also covers cotton products made in third countries. Customs will detain imported merchandise unless the importer can prove by clear and convincing evidence that the goods were not from Xinjiang. What is the status of the recommendations from the US on Chinese cotton? Vietnam … [Read more...] about Facilitating recovery of Vietnam’s yarn sector in midst of US policy enforcement
