Thalassemia children in need of help to survive
7-year-old Ngan Thai Su is already a regular patient at Nghe An Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion. He was admitted to the hospital since he was three months old. He has to go to the hospital at least once a month for blood transfusion. Each time he has to stay in the hospital for 10-12 days. Whenever Su went to hospital, his cousin, Ngan Thi May Ly, also accompanied him. Ly and her brother have also been treated for thalassemia. "All of them have this genetic disease. Both Su and Ly's fathers who are brothers should also have this disease but they refused to be tested or go to the hospital," said nurse Phan Thi Ai.
