Cashew exports reduced both in volume and value in the first five months of the year. — Photo congthuong.vn Viet Nam’s cashew exports reduced significantly in both volume and value in the first months of the year, exports for the entire year are forecast to be lower than last year, according to the Viet Nam Cashew Association (Vinacas). Speaking at a meeting to review the industry’s performance in the first half of the year and set plans for the latter half, Tran Van Hiep, Vinacas’ deputy chairman, said cashew exports in the first five months fell by 7.81 per cent in volume and 6.81 per cent in value to 206,111 tonnes and US$1.19 billion, respectively. The average export price was about $5,792 per tonne, up 1.45 per cent over the same period in 2021. Just days after arriving in Abyei, the unit set up two teams for emergency road rescue and repair activities along roads in the northern division - a border area between Sudan and South Sudan. The unit also took over the construction of a workshop for repairing and maintaining equipment, cars and motorbikes of the UN peacekeeping mission, which the first group of the unit had been working on since early May. The workshop is expected to be completed and put into operation in June. In parallel with implementing the assigned tasks, the unit also repaired the barracks to ensure stable accommodation for its members as soon as possible. The trial panel is chaired by Judge Mai Anh Tài. The appellate trial is set to take place between Monday and Thursday. More than 25 lawyers are representing the defendants. The trial is to hear the appeal of the 19 defendants, the appeal of the civil plaintiff and that of parties with related interests and obligations. At the end of 2021, the People's Court of Hà Nội sentenced 36 defendants to be between two years suspended sentence to eight years and six months in prison for violating regulations on construction investment, causing serious consequences.
