North Korea condemns US-South Korea-Japan missile defense drill
(VOVworld) – North Korea has condemned the recent US-South Korea-Japan missile defense drills to counter growing threats from North Korea. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted North Korea’s Rodon Sinmun daily as calling the drills a dangerous military act which will increase the confrontation on the Korean peninsula. The paper said North Korea will retaliate if similar drills recur. The US, Japan, and South Korea staged a three-day defense drill last month to coordinate activities to detect and trace any firing by North Korea of ballistic missiles. North Korea slams US-South Korea joint drills
(VOVworld) – On Sunday, North Korea slammed US-South Korea joint military drills which will beginning Monday, and said Washington will be held accountable for "igniting war" on the Korean peninsula. North Korea’s Foreign Ministry called the joint military drills dangerous war rehearsals which fully reveal their aggressive nature. If a war breaks out, it will not be limited to the peninsula nor be a conventional war, the Ministry said, suggesting it will be a nuclear war. North Korea will turn its defensive activities into an all-out offense as the situation has reached an uncontrollable grave phase. The Philippine Coast Guard is closely watching North Korea’s vessel Jin Teng and the 21 sailors on board while awaiting the UN’ reaction now that the UN has imposed further sanctions on North Korea for its nuclear activities. US, South Korea closely monitor North Korea’s nuclear activities
(VOVworld) - The US and South Korea are increasing their monitoring as North Korea has increased activity at its Punggye-ri nuclear test site. At a press briefing on Tuesday, South Korea's Defense Ministry spokesman Kim Min Seok said Seoul has set up a special task force to monitor a possible forth nuclear test. Kim said the military has detected various signs at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site and surrounding areas where North Korea conducted its third nuclear test in February last year. Japan, US, South Korea agree on tough UN resolution on North Korea
(VOVworld) - Senior diplomats from Japan, the US, and South Korea agreed Saturday in Tokyo to closely cooperate in seeking a strong and effective UN Security Council resolution on Pyongyang following its recent nuclear test. At a press conference following talks with US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Lim Sung Nam, South Korea's first vice foreign minister, Japan's Vice Foreign Minister Akitaka Saiki said Japan hopes that China, a member of the UN Security Council, will cooperate in adopting a tough Security Council resolution against Pyongyang.
