ASEAN Online Sale Day 2022 kicked off on August 8, drawing more than 300 businesses from the region. (Photo: VNA) The three-day event is intended to promote cross-border e-commerce and open up cooperation opportunities for regional firms. Co-hosted by Cambodia – ASEAN Chair 2022, Singapore and Vietnam, the program has two tiers for domestic and cross-border transactions. There are currently 185 enterprises out of the 300 firms that have registered to conduct business in Vietnam. Information about the event as well as the participating businesses is available on its official website at www.onlineasean.com, which has been integrated into ASEAN’s website asean.org. The ceremony was chaired by Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, and attended by Ambassadors of ASEAN countries and ASEAN partners. Minister Son said the foundation of ASEAN 55 years ago created the precedence for regional countries to realise their aspiration for a peaceful, stable region with sustainable and inclusive development. The annual ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony is held in each ASEAN member state to honour their common values and express the determination to promote solidarity and cooperation. The event, held at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum on Hanoi’s Nguyen Thai Hoc street, is showcasing traditional costumes of ASEAN countries, as well as photos featuring their landscapes, cultures, and peoples, with a hope to popularise a diverse and rich ASEAN culture. In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed that the exhibition is an important artistic and cultural event in celebration of ASEAN’s 55th founding anniversary. (Photo: WB Vietnam) According to the latest economic update by World Bank (WB) for Vietnam, the country’s economy expanded 5.2 percent in Q4 of 2021, and respectively 5.1 percent and 7.7 percent in Q1 and Q2 of 2022. Inflation is projected to average 3.8 percent over the year.
