6 Vietnamese schools make Times Higher Education World University Rankings
The six are Duy Tan University in Da Nang, Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University in Hanoi, Vietnam National University in HCMC, and Hue University. Duy Tan and Ton Duc Thang are ranked highest, but have slid from 401-500 last year to 601-800. The Vietnam National University in Hanoi has also dropped, from 1,001-1,200 to 1,201-1,500. The other three schools remain in the group of 1,501+. This year there are 1,904 universities in 108 countries and regions in the rankings, which are based on 18 indicators that measure an institution's performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. Hanoi beauty crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2023
Bui Quynh Hoa, a 25-year-old woman from Hanoi, emerged as the winner of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 beauty pageant during the grand finale in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday. Hoa surpassed 17 other contestants to win the title on the coronation night at the Hoa Binh Theater in District 10. She succeeds last year’s winner Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau and will now prepare to compete in the Miss Universe International 2023 pageant, to be held in El Salvador on November 18. 77% of jobseekers hold university degrees: HCMC survey
Although bachelor’s degree holders account for the majority of jobseekers, the number of jobs requiring such degree was only 23% of total, said the survey by the HCMC Human Resources Forecast and Labour Market Information (Falmi). The survey polled 14,500 businesses and 32,300 jobseekers in the city in the third quarter. More than one-fifth of jobseekers held a college diploma, and the number of jobs that required this level of education accounted for 24.6%, implying that there was no major difference between recruitment supply and demand. Up to 13.5% of recruitments were for blue-collar workers, but only 0.5% of jobseekers were in this category. Falmi deputy director Do Thanh Van said that university degree holders are having more trouble looking for jobs because there is a gap between jobseekers’ and employers’ expectations of salary and capability. Thanh Bui joins hands with Singapore’s leading university to help start-ups
Music producer and educator Thanh Bui has coordinated with a Singaporean university to help young people get rich, contribute to society, and find ways to solve difficult social problems. Australian-Vietnamese artist and educator Thanh Bui has brought Singapore's start-up training model to Vietnam to help young people start their businesses. "Many years ago, when I participated in a workshop on entrepreneurship for thousands of students, I realized that there is an extremely strong wave of start-ups in Vietnam.
