The competition, part of the Taste of Australia event, was organised by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and supported by Vietnam’s Graduates from Australia Club (VGAC). It had two rounds – an online one held from May 12-June 4; and a final round held on June 25 in Ho Chi Minh City. All contestants registered for the online round submitted video clips with two cups with two different patterns from four subjects - Heart, Tulip, Rosetta and Swan. HCM City calls for E.U. investment in nearly 200 projects
Dao Minh Chanh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment, said E.U. countries are investing in 2,724 projects in HCM City, mostly in the fields of manufacturing and processing, retail and wholesale, motor and automobile repair and maintenance, and information and communications. Worth a total of 7.69 billion USD, they account for 10.27% of FDI in the city, he said. HCM City has constantly improved its business climate and adopted various incentives to encourage more FDI, he said, adding that most notably among the incentives include reductions in corporate income tax, import-export duties and land lease. Vietnam's emblem The Office of National Assembly (ONA) on January 31 launched the third phase of a programme to strengthen the capacity of people’s elected bodies in Viet Nam . The 7.5 million USD project, sponsored by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the governments of Canada and Ireland , the Danish Trust Fund, the UK Department of International Development (DFID) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), will be carried out between 2008 and 2012. This phase will be beneficial to all provincial People’s Councils nationwide as an extension from 16 localities in the first and second phases. Spain arrests two Vietnamese over alleged sexual assault on British teenager
"Two Vietnamese males have been arrested by police of Mallorca Island over sexual assault allegations. One was born in 1980, the other in 1984," said a spokesman of the Mallorca police department. The spokesman however refused to provide their identities and occupations. The men’s identity and occupations were not revealed, but local reports said they were an actor and a musician. Further legal proceedings would be decided by the Mallorca court, the spokesman said, adding that they "might have been allowed to be out on bail".
