(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th National Assembly (NA)'s Standing Committee convened its 14th session in Hanoi on August 9 afternoon, under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue . In his opening remarks, Hue said that the session will last for two days and a half, during which the committee will look into a draft report on the outcomes of the thematic supervision of policies and laws on thrift practice and anti-wastefulness for 2016-2021. This work is scheduled to be scrutinised during the 15th NA’s fourth session, expected to open on October 20, he added. Amendments to draft revised land law expected to be done in 2023: N.A. Chairman
He asked the Government to send the dossier of the draft law to the N.A. Committee for Economic Affairs and the N.A. Standing Committee before September 1 to seek feedback from full-time legislators. The MoNRE should work harder to build reports on economic, social, environmental impacts as well as impacts on national defense and security, and the domestic business environment. Apart from the document, relevant laws need to be adjusted too, Hue stressed, adding that the N.A. Committee for Economic Affairs and the MoNRE should play the key role to help the legislature and the government mobilize contributions of people and scientists to the bill. Biden signs bill to boost US chips, compete with China
"The future is going to be made in America," Biden said, calling the measure "a once-in-a-generation investment in America itself." Biden touted investments that chip companies are making even though it remains unclear when the U.S. Commerce Department will write rules for reviewing grant awards and how long it will take to underwrite projects. Some Republicans joined Biden on the White House lawn to attend the signing of the chips bill that was years in the making in Congress. The chief executives of Micron, Intel, Lockheed Martin, HP and Advanced Micro Devices attended the signing as did governors of Pennsylvania and Illinois, the mayors of Detroit, Cleveland and Salt Lake City, and lawmakers.
