Author Ngô Kim Khôi Viet Nam News A book on Thang Trần Phềnh (1895 - 1973) was recently launched in Hà Nội and HCM City. The book is compiled by author Ngô Kim Khôi and is a rare chance to learn about one of Việt Nam’s least-documented artists. Khôi works as a fashion designer in France. He has written several books on Vietnamese artists, including Lê Huy Miến and Nam Sơn, who are regarded as the first artists of Việt Nam’s modern fine arts. What is it like to live in a place where the cattle freeze to death? At a height of 1,180 meters and temperatures reaching as low as -5oC in the winter, the Mau Son Peak in northern Lang Son Province is among the coldest places in Vietnam that is inhabited by humans. Mau Son Peak, a part of Mau Son Commune in Lang Son’s Loc Binh District, is situated about 170 kilometers northeast of Hanoi, close to the border of Vietnam and China. Thanks to its elevation and distance from the equator, Mau Son is among the few places in Vietnam where snowfall can be witnessed during winter.
