Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired an online meeting on July 16 between permanent Government members and localities on speeding up public investment disbursement. PM Phuc cited the calculation of the General Statistics Office as saying that every 1 percent of domestic investment contributes to raising GDP by 0.06 percent, so the Government and localities nationwide must therefore take responsibility for disbursing public capital of over 633 trillion VND (nearly 28 billion USD). The PM asked that subjective and objective causes of delays in disbursement of investment and official development assistance (ODA) be identified. Hanoi (VNA) - The National Assembly (NA) has issued a Resolution on the allocation of non-refundable aid capital, adjustments to state budget expenditure estimate and approval of state budget balance in 2018. Accordingly, the NA decided to allocate over 5.37 trillion VND (over 237.7 million USD) of non-refundable aid from the state budget in 2018 to ministries and central agencies. The NA adjusted the estimate of regular spending, and decided to increase the Ministry of Finance's 2018 estimate for development investment expenditure by over 1.99 trillion VND. It also decided to approve the final balance of the state budget in 2018. The total state budget revenue in 2018 was nearly 1.88 quadrillion VND and the total state budget spending was almost 1.87 quadrillion VND. This result is from a 2019 poll of 688 international schools in 27 countries and territories conducted by Expat Finder, a company providing information and support services for families moving abroad. Hanoi (VNA) - Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long and British Ambassador Gareth Ward signed a memorandum of understanding on July 15 on cooperation to implement the UK Prosperity Fund’s Better Health Programme in Vietnam. The programme covers a range of matters, such as health education, digital healthcare, infectious diseases, scholarships for Vietnamese medical personnel, and collaboration in fighting antibiotic resistance. The ambassador said Vietnam’s COVID-19 treatment for Patient 91, a British citizen, was a miracle. He noted that this year marks a decade of the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership, saying the two foreign ministries have discussed the importance of ties in the future.
