Residents in south-central Vietnam cast down by sand, mud slides
Residents of Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam were struggling with sand and mud that flowed into their houses and flooded local routes following a heavy downpour on Sunday evening. Authorities had to close off Lac Long Quan Street in Tien Thanh Commune under Phan Thiet City after the deluge of sand blocked the road and destroyed a bridge. ‘Pho’ becomes popular dish among Japanese in Vietnam
Japanese prefer soups, so it is not surprising when pho becomes a popular dish among the Japanese community in Vietnam. Hiroe K. from Tokyo had lived in Hanoi for years before moving to Ho Chi Minh City. In Hanoi, she did not often eat out but she chose pho whenever she had a chance. Hiroe can eat pho once to twice per month. In Ho Chi Minh City, she even pays more attention to pho . “It is interesting as I can easily find a pho restaurant when stepping out of my house. Consular Club of Ho Chi Minh City raises funds for vulnerable communities
The Consular Club of Ho Chi Minh City (Consular Club HCMC) hosted a fundraising dinner in the city on Saturday evening to raise funds for disadvantaged children, minority girls, and needy people in southern Vietnam. The Consular Club Fundraising Dinner 2023, an annual event with the ‘Stronger Together’ theme, took place at Continental Saigon Hotel in the city’s downtown District 1, attracting representatives from 19 countries, diplomatic missions, and business communities. 1 more monkeypox case reported in Ho Chi Minh City
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health confirmed on Sunday that the city had detected one more case of monkeypox, an illness caused by the monkeypox virus, taking the total to four in the city. Meanwhile, Vietnam has documented five monkeypox infections, with two of them having the source of transmission from outside of the country. The newly-discovered monkeypox patient was identified as a resident of the city’s outlying district of Binh Chanh. The patient has recently neither come into contact with foreigners nor traveled abroad. A 34-year-old man went to the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato Venereology for a medical check-up on Thursday due to his suspected symptoms of the disease. The hospital took his sample and sent it to the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City for testing. The resulted showed a day later that he tested positive for the monkeypox virus, so he has been put under quarantine for treatment.
