Vietnam needs digital tourism map
Vietnam is in need of a national digital tourism map which features tourism resources, destinations, and service providers to support tourists as well as local tourism service providers. The proposal on the digital map has been made and attracted the attention of local enterprises, but it has yet to be rolled out. Nguyen Quoc Ky, chairman of Vietravel Holdings, a local travel firm, said the digital tourism map would meaningfully increase the competitiveness of Vietnam’s tourism sector and help sell more tours at higher prices. A coastal route costing nearly VND1 trillion (US$42.5 million) has been put into use for economic development in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam. The coastal route was put into operation in Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province on Monday morning. The road, stretching from National Highway 1 to Dam Mon Peninsula in Van Phong Bay, located in Van Ninh District, is about 14.3 kilometers long and 34 meters wide with six lanes. The project was developed by Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board, and the construction was initiated in 2016. The road was built to create favorable conditions for transport infrastructure in the region, connect Hon Lon Island with other islands in Van Phong Bay, and gradually complete the infrastructure of the northern area of the Van Phong Economic Zone. E-commerce in Vietnam faces decreasing purchasing power
Several e-commerce platforms in Vietnam reported a decrease in the value of sales despite having launched many promotions. Consumers on e-commerce platforms used to prefer high-end, luxury items. The trend has changed, however, as buyers now focus on healthcare products, sportswear, and fitness products. The reason for this change is the impact of economic difficulties and inflation, many vendors on e-commerce platforms believed. They added that buyers now tend to seek healthcare products with reasonable prices and prefer direct discounts. Hung, whose online store specializes in selling phone accessories and electronic goods, said that the revenue of this group of products decreased by nearly 40 percent compared to the same period last year. 15-year-old girl rescued from human traffickers in Vietnam’s Central Highlands
Police in Vietnam managed to rescue a 15-year-old girl from a labor trafficking ring on Monday after she was sold for forced labor at pubs and karaoke parlors by an acquaintance on social networks. The victim, identified as N.T.A., was induced to travel from Dong Thap Province in the Mekong Delta region to Binh Duong Province, just outside Ho Chi Minh City, to take a job with a monthly salary of VND10-15 million (US$425-638). However, she was sold to a woman in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak at the price of VND25 million ($1,063) to work as a karaoke parlor attendant.
