Hanoi reopens restaurants, coffee shops as coronavirus outbreak subsides

Authorities in Hanoi have allowed local restaurants and cafés to reopen as the latest wave of COVID-19 infections had subsided, but strict prevention and control measures will have to be taken at these venues. Vice-chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung announced at a meeting on Monday that all eateries and coffee shops with indoor services would be permitted to resume operations from 0:00 on Tuesday. Partitions must be installed or a minimum distance of one meter must be kept between each person. Other COVID-19 prevention and control measures will also have to be taken seriously. The municipal administration also encouraged these venues to focus on takeaway services as the safest option. Discos, bars, karaoke parlors, online game centers, and roadside eateries and cafés will remain shuttered until further notice, according to vice-chairman Dung. Due to the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hanoi authorities previously shut down all karaoke shops, bars, and discos from February 1. Eateries and coffee shops were closed from February 16. According to Tran Thi Nha Ha, director of the Hanoi Department of Health, the city has not documented any local infections since February 16. The pandemic situation in the capital has been put under control, Ha continued, adding that all 51,000 samples of people arriving from northern Hai Duong Province, the country’s current epicenter, have tested negative for the novel coronavirus. The risk of virus spread in the community is still high as all students and learners would resume their normal classes from Tuesday, she stated. All residents are advised to strictly comply with the five rules of COVID-19 prevention and control, namely wearing face masks, disinfecting, keeping safe distance, avoiding large gatherings, and filling out health declaration forms. Hanoi FC face easy fixtures in draw for group stage of AFC Cup 2021

The side from the capital have been drawn in the same group alongside Bali United FC of Indonesia, Boeung Ket FC of Cambodia, and the winner of play-off match one. Elsewhere in the competition local club Saigon FC are in Group H alongside Lion City FC of Singapore, Kedah FC of Malaysia, and the winner of play-off match two. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the tournament’s group stage will be held between June 22 and June 28, with all group stage matches set to be played at a concentrated place. Therefore, in order to reach the final round participating clubs must play in nine matches as opposed to 14 matches in previous versions of the tournament. This comes after the AFC Cup 2020 was cancelled due to ongoing efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 version of the tournament will see the participation of 39 teams from five zones, including West Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, East Asia, and ASEAN. The Gala Concert “Hope” at Hanoi Opera House

The Hanoitimes - The symphony concert entitled “Hope” will kick-off a series of music performances by Vietnam Symphony Orchestra in 2021. Hanoians will be treated to some outstanding masterpieces by both international and Vietnamese composers starting from 8pm on March 12 at the Hanoi Opera House. This 90-minute-performance features the symphony titled “Hope” by Vietnamese composer Do Hong Quan; the music piece “The song my mother taught me” by A. Dvorak; the excerpt  “Intermezzo” from the opera “Cavalleria Rusticana” by P. Mascagni; “Parigi o cara” excerpt from Opera “La Traviata” by G. Verdi; the “Nessun Dorma” excerpt from the opera “Turandot” by G. Puccini; and the symphony Enigma Variations, Op. 36 by E. Elgar. The concert will be conducted by Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji, with the participation of artists Bui Thi Trang (soprano), The Tung Lam (tenor) and other artists of the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra. The symphony concert is aimed at delighting Hanoian audiences with music classics during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as showcasing the solidarity of Vietnamese people and their optimisms for a better year ahead. In the 2021 season, the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra will focus on performing live concerts on stages and online via YouTube, Facebook, among others. The Orchestra will continue this going-online trend even in the following years in order to introduce quality musical works by famous international and Vietnamese composers to the public, helping them better understand about the symphony music.
