Hanoi (VNA) – One more COVID-19 infection was recorded in Vietnam on January 25, raising the total to 1,549, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control. The new case returned to Vietnam from Indonesia on January 10, and was quarantined upon her arrival at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport. Among the total, 693 cases were transmitted domestically. Additional 14 patients were given the all-clear on January 25, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,425. Among patients undergoing treatment at medical establishments across the country, eight tested negative for the coronavirus once, eight others twice and 11 thrice. Thailand to start COVID-19 vaccination next month
Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand on January 25 announced it will begin the national COVID-19 vaccination programme in February by administering 50,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine to high-risk groups. Health workers in Samut Sakhon province, the epicentre of the latest outbreak, would be the first to be inoculated, then elderly and people with chronic diseases, said senior health official Sopon Mekton. Thailand's Food and Drug Administration last week approved AstraZeneca's vaccine for emergency use. It has yet to grant authorisation for that of China’s Sinovac Biotech, of which the government has ordered two million doses. Gov’t continues legal assistance to SMEs
Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently approved a legal assistance program for small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the 2021-2025 period. The programme aims to promote awareness and sense of legal compliance and reduce legal risks and obstacles of SMEs that account for majority of the country’s total businesses, the Vietnam Government Portal (VGP News) reported. Under the programme, ministries, agencies and localities shall have to update policies and legal assistance programs for SMEs, collect all feedbacks regarding legal obstacles from SMEs and report to competent authorities for refining legal regulations. Legal assistance shall be conduct in a diverse manner, including direct and indirect forms such as forums and dialogues as well as via various platforms. Earlier on June 2019, the Government issued Decree No 55/2019/ND-CP on legal assistance to SMEs. Woman tests positive for SARS-CoV-2 after returning from Indonesia
According to the ministry's report, the 47-year-old woman landed at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on January 10. She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in her second testing on January 24. The patient is now being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases. With this new infection case, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 855. As of 6 pm on January 25, a total of 1,425 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
