Many experts expect that young talents of Hanoi-based Viettel FC will be given more game time in the upcoming group stage of the 2022 AFC Cup to prove themselves. Viettel FC, Laos’ Young Elephants FC, Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown FC, and Singapore’s Hougang United FC are direct entrants in Group I of the tournament. As Viettel’s capability is considered to be superior to that of the other three, the tourney will be an opportunity for coach Bae Ji Won, who just signed with the Vietnamese football club in January and took over from his predecessor Truong Viet Hoang on June 17, to test the club’s young players. Vietnam and Cambodia have been fostering their security and defense ties and sticking to the principle of not allowing hostile forces to use one’s territory to harm the other, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has said. Hue Festival 2022 kicked off on Saturday evening in the eponymous city in central Vietnam, after a two-year halt due to COVID-19, centered around the ‘Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development’ theme. The opening ceremony at Ngo Mon Square, which attracted thousands of visitors, began with a unique art program along with an ao dai (Vietnam’s traditional gown) show, depicting cultural values and identities of Hue City, an ancient capital, as well as Thua Thien-Hue Province in general. Visiting Australia's Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong has affirmed that her nation will continue promoting its strategic partnership with Vietnam and always attaches importance to the Southeast Asian country's role in the region. She was speaking at her talks with her Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi on Monday as part of her three-day official visit to Vietnam from June 26 to 28 at Son’s invitation. Vietnam had a 0-0 draw against hosts Indonesia in their group-stage opener at the 2022 AFF U-19 Youth Championship on Saturday evening. The match took place at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in West Java, Indonesia at 8:30 pm on Saturday (Vietnam time). Both teams chose to carry out their offensive tactics with multiple attacks staged in the first minutes of the match. The Vietnamese boys gained the upper hand from the outset, forcing their opponents to commit many fouls as they tried to stop them. Indonesia had a close shot in the 27th minute, but the ball was eventually blocked by Vietnamese goalie Cao Van Binh.
