Newly-appeared low pressure zone in East Sea may develop into storm
According to the National Center for Hydrology Meteorology Forecasting, a low-pressure zone appeared in Luzon Island, Philippines; and at 7 a.m. on Monday, the system was located at around 13.5-14.5 degrees north latitude and 119.5-120.5 degrees east longitude. In the next 24 hours, it is forecast to slowly move westward and become intensive gradually as a tropical depression and storm respectively. However, the storm will not enter the mainland but it will be likely to operate in the northern East Sea, causing the bad weather near the Spratly and Paracel Islands next several days. Sam Son beaches jammed during hot weekend
Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to Sam Son beaches in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa during the weekend as the northern and central regions experienced a widespread severe heat wave. During the two days of June 25 and 26, some beaches along Ho Xuan Huong Street in Sam Son City were jammed with visitors. A beach near Truong Le Mountain also attracted many visitors. The beaches were most crowded between 3pm-6pm. A staff from the local rescue team monitored the beach on June 25. A report from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the city received over 6.80 million visitors during the first half of 2022, up 131.60 percent on year. Health Ministry requests vigilance over increase in dengue fever cases
Dengue fever patients (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Health has asked for more drastic measures to curb the spread of dengue fever, given a high number of new cases recorded recently. According to the ministry, since the beginning of this year to June 24, Vietnam had reported around 77,000 dengue fever cases, up more than 10,000 cases compared to that in the previous week, and 30 fatalities. This time is the peak of the disease, with the southern region and several central localities being the hotbeds. In that context, the ministry has issued a lot of guidance documents asking localities to make efforts to prevent the disease, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic is not over. Passengers allowed to carry folding bicycles on Hanoi’s first metro line
The management of Hanoi’s first metro line has allowed folding bicycles on the trains in order to provide commuters with more convenient and easier access to the public transport system. Travelers are now permitted to bring their folding bikes on board the trains of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line, Vu Hong Truong, general director of Hanoi Metro Company, operator of the system, said on Sunday. Cat Linh-Ha Dong is the first-ever metro line to be put into operation in Vietnam, Truong continued, adding that several improvements still need to be made during the operation of the system. Being the only metro route in Hanoi now, it has yet to be connected with other forms of public transportation, thus allowing folding bikes on the trains will provide commuters with easier access to the metro line.
