Vietnamese ‘blue berets’ plant trees in South Sudan
The activity was in celebration of the 132nd birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - 2022), towards the 8th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (May 27, 2014 - 2022), and 47th founding anniversary of Military Hospital 175 (May 26, 1975 - 2022). The tree-planting activity attracted the participation of a lot of local people who first joined the event with curiosity and then with excitement after learning the significance of the event. Some actively asked for more trees to plant and take care of the trees themselves. This activity was meaningful to both improving the landscape of the place for medical examination and treatment and boosting the two hospitals’ bond. Long-lost twins reconnect after 47 years through ID card registry
Mai Thi Ben, 59, was informed by police that she had the exact same face as another woman in Phu Yen, who lives about 175 kilometers away. Police of Binh Dinh’s Hoai Nhon Town on Thursday said they were cooperating with police of Phu Yen’s Tuy An District to help Ben reunite with C, her long-lost twin sister. Previously on Monday, police of Hoai Nhon informed Ben she could not have an ID card made since her face matched that of C, who got her card back in March. Thinking they may be twins, police visited Ben’s home, while requesting police of Tuy An District to contact the other woman. Both were later confirmed as twins. Ben said her family was poor, so her parents had sent her to live with a relative in Binh Dinh when she was 5-6 years old. When she was 7-8 (in 1971), Ben tried to return home in Phu Yen. $43mn hematology hospital inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City
The second branch of the Ho Chi Minh City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital, costing more than VND1 trillion (US$43.1 million), was officially inaugurated in Binh Chanh District on Thursday. The facility will be the leading hematology hospital in the southern region and Vietnam in general, Dr. Bui Chi Dung, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital, said at the inauguration. The construction of the hospital, which cost over VND1 trillion, was initiated in October 2018. The facility covers an area of 33,825 square meters, consists of 33 departments, and has the maximum capacity of 400 beds.
