The index surged 19.61 points, or 1.68 per cent, to 1,188.88 points. The market's breadth returned to a positive zone with 318 stocks gaining points, of which 50 stocks hit the biggest daily increase of 7 per cent, while 153 stocks declined. However, liquidity remained at a low level, of which the matching value on the southern bourse was just VND8.86 trillion (US$381 million), equal to a matching volume of 380 million shares. Ngài Kẹo (Mr Candy), the debut novel of 15-year-old author Quỳnh Trần, is the story of a young girl's perilous and hesitant voyage. It begins with the opening of the largest candy store in town, named "Candy shop - Best N Town" by Mr Candy, who sells candies for five cents each. Children begin disappearing a week after Mr Candy moves in, and strange occurrences ensue. First Lucy, Frank, and Besty, then Michael, Jessica, Roy, and Homer, disappear without warning or a police officer being dispatched. On the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index inched down 0.27 per cent to close at 1,169.27 points. The VN-Index has dropped for four consecutive sessions with a total loss of 5.5 per cent. The market breadth was positive, however, with 300 stocks rising, 196 declining and 68 closing flat. Divergence also widened with 125 stocks hitting the ceiling and 55 dropping to the floor prices. On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index started off the afternoon with a double-bottom pattern but broke above the neckline at around 2pm to begin an upward trend. The buying and selling forces cancelled each other out, leaving the index more or less stable at 1,218.09 points, down 0.01 points compared to the previous session. The market’s breadth stood visibly negative as 190 stocks declined while 156 advanced. Notably, eight stocks reached ceiling prices and only one hit floor prices. The grass isn’t always greener

Photo courtesy of Bayern Munich FC Paul Kennedy It was with somewhat of a heavy heart this week that I watched Sadio Mane leave Liverpool and sign for Bayern Munich. The Senegalese striker has been brilliant for Jurgen Klopp’s team, arguable his best player over the past 12 months, and although I really didn’t want him to go, I wish him nothing but the best in the Bundesliga. It also marked the end of Liverpool’s famed three-pronged attack that has served them so well in the past. Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino remain at the Reds, for now at least, as Mane plies his trade elsewhere. He’s not the first big name to leave Liverpool, and he sure as hell won’t be the last, but maybe he should have given a little thought to those that have left before him, heading off to pastures new.
