Some 20 Vietnamese journalists and officials partook in the training course from September 13 to September 22. Researchers have discovered 16 new species of the elusive Loboscelidia, a type of parasitoid wasp, following a recent exploration in Vietnam that also uncovered their unique egg-burying behavior, according to ScienceDaily . The findings by scientists from Kyushu University in Japan and Vietnam’s National Museum of Nature were published in the European Journal of Taxonomy. Loboscelidia wasps are 2-5 mm in body length. The discovery has expanded the global count of the species by 30 percent to 67. While unnoticed by people, the wasps perform a vital function in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Assistant Professor Toshiharu Mita and Dr. Yu Hisasue of Kyushu University’s Faculty of Agriculture, together with Dr. Pham Hong Thai of the National Museum of Nature in Vietnam, conducted field surveys at six sites across the Southeast Asian country, setting traps and using nets to capture the tiny parasitoid wasps. Outstanding digital technology companies honoured. — VNA/VNS Photo Việt Nam’s Top 10 digital technology companies in 2023 were announced at a ceremony in Hà Nội late last week. Among them are Viettel Solutions, OneMount Group, VNPT, Mobifone, Rạng Đông and FPT. Launched two months ago, the organising board selected from 104 nominations in various fields to honour the top 10 digital technology enterprises in Việt Nam. According to statistics, the total revenue in 2022 of these 104 businesses reached VNĐ164 trillion (US$6.7 billion), accounting for 43.75 per cent of the total revenue of Việt Nam's software and information services sector. For the first time, Vietnam's famous Dong Ho folk paintings are appreciated in a new language: ballet. The ballet titled "Dong Ho", inspired by the famous Vietnamese folk painting will be performed on the evening of March 22 and 23 at the Hanoi Opera House, according to Vietnam National Opera & Ballet. "Bui Ram Duoi Hoang Hon" (The Bush In the Sunset) fetched the highest price out of the 19 paintings presented for auction in Paris by Lynda Trouvé auction house, at 38,000 euro. According to Tran Dai Thang, director of Dong A Publishing House, the painting’s selling price was higher than expected. "Canh Dong Lua My" (The Wheat Field) was sold for 32,000 euro. Thang attributed the interest in King Ham Nghi’s paintings to their historical meaning.
