Police in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating the death of a young girl who died after eating cream puffs taken from a Mid-Autumn Festival event at a local apartment complex. Six-year-old P.N.Q. died late Sunday evening after eating cream puffs on Friday evening which were taken from a Mid-Autumn Festival event hosted by the Palm Heights apartment complex in Thu Duc City, an administrative district of Ho Chi Minh City, said Pham Khanh Phong Lan, head of the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board. The cream puffs, produced by a well-known bakery, were donated to the event by a local coffee shop to be given out to children and staff at the building. Q.’s mother, a service worker at Palm Heights, brought some extra cream puffs from the event to her home in Thu Duc late Friday night. September CPI in HCM City picks up 0.56% month on month

The highest increase, 1.4%, was seen in transport services, driven by higher prices of fuels and means of transport. The group of housing, utilities and construction materials posted a 1.11% hike. Three groups of commodities with price reduction are post and telecom services (0.94%), beverage and tobacco (0.31%) and garment, headgear and footwear (0.14%). The average CPI in the first nine months of the year went up 3.45% from the same period last year, with rises seen in nine groups of commodities except for transport services and post-telecom./. At the end of August, Hau Giang Cold Storage Logistic Co., Ltd. started construction on its first outsourcing cold storage project in the same province. The scheme includes six cold storages equivalent to a capacity of 88,000 tonnes. With an estimated investment of around $21.7 million, the project will use modern technology from the EU and applying digital management. It is scheduled to be ready for operations by 2027. VN-Index gains marginally
The index closed 1.1 points higher after rising 1.7 points Friday. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), on which the index is based, dropped 18% to VND11.5 trillion ($473.25 million). The VN30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 16 tickers gained. GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group led with a 4.6% increase, followed by VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail, up 2.9%. VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk rose 1.9% and MSN of conglomerate Masan Group closed 1.4% higher. Twelve blue chips fell. TPB of private TPBank dropped 2% and GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas closed 1.5% lower. Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VPB of private lender VPBank and VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup.
