Vietnam’s Nha Trang – Lien Khuong expy proposed to be built in next 3 years
Authorities in Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong Provinces, located in Vietnam’s south-central and Central Highlands regions, respectively, have sought to develop a 103km-long expressway linking the two localities in the 2025-28 period, said a local official. The administration of Khanh Hoa recently told relevant agencies to work with a consulting unit on a proposal to develop the Nha Trang - Lien Khuong Expressway project, Nguyen Tan Tuan, chairman of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee, said on Thursday. According to the proposal, the route would start from an intersection with the Nha Trang - Cam Lam Expressway in Khanh Hoa to the end of the Lien Khuong - Prenn Expressway in Lam Dong, with some 48km of the route in Khanh Hoa and the rest in Lam Dong. Tuna exports rise to year’s highest levels
VASEP said there were some changes in the export patterns in August. After declining steadily, exports to the U.S. increased by 2% bolstered by a 24% jump in shipments of canned tuna. But exports for the year-to-date were 45% down from 2022 at US$208 million. Exports to the EU saw a 37% surge, including a 45-fold rise in shipments to Italy. Smaller markets like Thailand and the Philippines also bought more tuna. Shipments to members of the CPTPP trade deal like Japan, Canada and Mexico fell by 53%, 49% and 14%. Vietnam’s Bac Lieu to host country’s first-ever salt festival next year
Vietnam’s first-ever salt festival will be held in Bac Lieu Province, southern Vietnam in April next year and is expected to contribute to the development of the salt-making craft in the province and the country as a whole. The event will help promote local salt products and call on enterprises and organizations to make investments in the production, processing, and trade of salt. It will also create motivation for locally-made salt to compete with salt imports in the domestic market. At a working session with Bac Lieu authorities on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam said April is an ideal time to hold the festival as it marks the beginning of the salt harvesting season. More than 700 billion THB of the total will be fresh borrow ing to finance the budget deficit, and about 1.7 trillion THB will be earmarked for refinancing and restructuring existing debts . About half of the funding sought will be raised through government bond sales, while the rest will be financed via treasury bills, savings bonds, bond switches and promissory notes. The government plans to sell up to 272 billion THB of government bonds in the last quarter of this year. The new cabinet of Thailand approved higher budget spending of 3.48 trillion THB for fiscal year 2024, along with a larger budget deficit of 693 billion THB, to revive the economy.
