Congestion in aviation infrastructure needs resolving
Amid opinions that Vietnam’s aviation market has developed too rapidly, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, head of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), said that the aviation market has been posting good growth and under control with ensured safety and profits for carriers. The Vietnamese aviation market still reflects correctly rising demand of the economy and is in line with annual economic growth rate. However, representatives of state management agencies, experts and enterprises thought that although the development of Vietnam’s aviation market is still under control, rapid development has been causing intense pressure on infrastructure. If this issue is not solved soon, it will cause lots of consequences. The Vietnam International Fashion Fair (VIFF) 2019 officially opened at Hanoi's Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labour Cultural Palace in Hanoi on December 11. Over 5 pct of Vietnamese children have trafficking-related experiences: report
"Casting Light in the Shadows: Child and youth migration, exploitation and trafficking in Vietnam," released on Tuesday at a conference in Hanoi, said they were either trafficking victims or exposed to trafficking risks. Vietnamese girls and boys are equally at risk of trafficking, while less than one in 10 victims of trafficking or labor exploitation received any form of support. The report, surveyed 3,885 people aged 12 to 24 in 36 Vietnam localities from 2017. "This study provides important evidence of the prevalence of child trafficking and the experiences of exploited or trafficked children," Lesley Miller, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Vietnam, said. "It also reveals that both boys and girls are impacted, reinforcing the need for gender-responsive prevention and responses." Vietnam improves position on global hunger index
With an overall score of 15.3 out of 100, the level of hunger in Vietnam has been classified as ‘moderate,’ according to the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2019 report released last week by Irish aid agency Concern Worldwide and German organization Welt Hunger Hilfe. The index measured 117 countries and territories around the world to compare the levels of hunger between countries and regions, and to call for more efforts in the areas with greatest need of additional resources to eliminate hunger. The GHI score was calculated based on four indicators, including undernourishment, child wasting, child stunting and child mortality. The higher a country's GHI score, the worse off it is. A score of 0 would indicate zero hunger in the country. Vietnam has made substantial improvements to have its global hunger score fall from 28.3 in 2000 to 15.3 this year.
