The volume of passengers passing through Ho Chi Minh City’s new Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station has reached fewer than 50 percent of its capacity, failing to meet expectations of the city’s transport authority. Besides, the number of interprovincial buses operating at the new station remained lower than expected, the Department of Transport said in a report sent to the municipal government regarding the business performance of the station. After fixed-route passenger bus operators shifted their operations to the new station in Thu Duc City from the old one in Binh Thanh District starting from October 11 last year, some reportedly suspended operations or cut down on their services due to low passenger numbers. Also, a rising number of buses were found to have picked up and dropped off passengers outside the new station. Architect Ngo Doan Duc believes that Hanoi needs to create policies to attract talent and investors to build two new cities in Hoa Lac and Noi Bai. Phu Quoc welcomes over 1.5 million visitors in the first quarter of 2023 (Photo: VNA) Kien Giang (VNA) – Phu Quoc island city in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors in the first quarter of 2023, a rise of 43.4% year on year, fulfilling 25.9% of its yearly target. In the period, the city earned over 4.5 trillion VND (119.44 million USD) from tourism activities, up 286.5% over the same period last year, equivalent to 39.4% of the yearly plan. The city attributed the result to effective measures to speed up tourism recovery and development and tourism promotion activities . Phu Quoc has also attracted many big tourism investors such as Vingroup, Sungroup, CEO, BIM. Viet Nam’s foreign investment plunges 39 per cent in Q1

Of the three-month figure, over $3 billion came from 522 newly-licensed projects, up 62 per cent in a number of projects but down 6 per cent in the level of capital compared to the same period last year. Some $1.2 billion was added to 228 existing ones, representing a yearly hike of 3 per cent in a number of projects and a yearly decline of 70.3 per cent in the capital.
