Customs officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi stated on November 12 that they have stopped two separate incidents of trafficked rhino horns and ivory handicraft products being smuggled into Vietnam. Rhino horns and ivory are seized upon arrival at Vietnamese airport  (Photo: haiquanonline or Customs Online) Earlier officials said that, Hanoi police in conjunction with customs officers at Noi Bai International Airport noticed a suspicious passenger who was travelling on flight VN385 flight from Tokyo to Vietnam. Upon conducting a search of the suspect’s luggage, police successfully discovered seven handicraft products made from ivory. The items, weighed approximately 4.22 kg and are currently being kept by the airport’s customs officers as a further investigation into the case gets underway. The list was topped by pintxos in San Sebastian, Spain, followed by curry laksa in Kuala Lumpur and sushi in Tokyo. Entries were nominated by Lonely Planet writers, bloggers and staffers and whittled down to a final 500 by a panel including chef and TV presenter Adam Liaw and food blogger Leyla Kazim. According to Saratwadee Asasupakit, director of the TAT’s Osaka office, the target group is females aged 20-34, a large market of 9.54 million people in Japan. LGTBT tourism is another major market in Japan, with some 11.2 million people reporting difficulties and objectives from conservative segments of society when they travel. “TAT will promote its ‘Go Thai, Be Free’ campaign among LGBT people for travel and to experience nightlife in a gay-friendly destination,” she said. The survey was carried out by the US’ Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) to compile a report on emerging trends in real estate in Asia-Pacific in 2020.
