Vietnam issues new template passports for citizens from July 1
The new template passports aim to prevent the creation of fake passports. The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) started issuing new template passports for Vietnamese citizens today [July 1], according to the Immigration Department of Vietnam. The move is aimed at implementing Circular 73/2021/TT-BCA of the MPS on passport specimens. Each page of the new passport will be printed with renowned Vietnamese scenery and cultural heritage, namely Ha Long Bay, Hung King Temple, Hue Imperial Citadel, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, Nha Rong Habour, Lung Cu Flag Tower, and among others. Vietnamese manufacturing continues solid improvements
The bright spot in the latest PMI survey was employment, which increased at the fastest pace in three and a half years. The Vietnam's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) posted 54.0 in June, down slightly from 54.7 in May but still signaling a solid monthly improvement in the health of the sector. 500 tons of Vietnamese-labelled rice exported to EU
Nearly 500 tons of "Com Vietnam Rice" exported to the EU. (Photo: VNA) Since the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) took effect, the group has exported around 30,000 tons of rice to the EU. It was the first time the rice was exported under its own brand name, instead of those by importers in the previous shipments, according to Loc Troi. Loc Troi Group CEO Nguyen Duy Thuan said the consignments, which mostly consist of fragrant rice, have left Vietnam and will arrived in Germany, the Netherlands and France in July. The grain will be available at France-based Carrefour, the Europe’s largest retailer and wholesaler, he said. The shipment, though not large, marks the start of the group’s journey to conquer the global market, he added. Fuel prices slightly decline after seven times in row of increase adjustment
Specifically, the retail price of E5RON92 bio-fuel was reduced to VND30,891 (US$1.3) per liter, a reduction of VND411 (US$0.018) per liter, meanwhile RON95-III gasoline price lessened to VND32,763 (US$1.4) per liter, a decrease of VND110 (US$0.0047) a liter. The price of diesel 0.05S was reduced to VND29,615 (US$1.27) per liter, a reduction of VND404 (US$0.017) per liter; kerosene lessened to VND28,353 (US$1.22) per liter, a reduction of VND432 (US$0.019) per liter, mazut oil 180CST 3.5S decreased to VND19,722 (US$0.85) per kilogram, a deduction of VND1,013 (US$0.043) per kilogram. According to the experts, the reduction session was not adequate with the seven consecutive sessions of increasing the fuel prices. Thousands of Vietnamese flights delayed in June
The figure was up 15.9 percent year-on-year and up 9.4 percent from last month, according to a report from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. The delay fights accounted for 18.2 percent of total flights operated by the country's six carriers last month, it said. Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air has the industry's highest rate of flight delays at 24 percent, followed by Vietnam Airlines (20.1 percent). CAAV said late-arriving aircraft was the main cause of delays in addition to other excuses like poor management and bad weather. The Ministry of Transport said the increase in flight delays has triggered public outcry among passengers and damaged the industry's reputation. Vietnam seeks UK assistance for HCMC financial center
Vietnam wants to learn from the experience of developed countries, including the U.K., in developing a financial center, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue told the Acting Mayor of the City of London Peter Estlin. He noted that the city of London was one of the biggest financial centers in the world. Hue met Estlin during his June 28-30 official visit to the U.K. Estlin said the U.K. was willing to partner with Vietnam at different levels, including developing a financial market and improving its business credit rating to grow the bond market. Vietnam develops world’s first effective vaccine against ASF: German newspaper
In its article, Agrarheute noted that the ASF epidemic is causing great concern to pig farmers globally. However, Vietnam has recently announced that it has achieved a breakthrough as it had successfully produced an effective vaccine which is the first commercial one globally to prevent the ASF epidemic, it said. The newspaper cited the confirmation given by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in an official letter sent to the Department of Animal Health of Vietnam that emphasised the safety and effectiveness of the NAVET-ASFVAC vaccine against ASF developed by Vietnam.
