A Sunjin Vina Co plant in Ha Nam Province. — Photo danviet.vn South Korea-invested Sunjin Vina Co has received a licence from Hau Giang Industrial Zones (IZ) Management Board to develop a seafood feed plant in the province's Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Zone (IZ). The 2.6ha-plant, expected to cost US$23.6 million, will produce 126,000 tonnes of fish and shrimp feed products annually, the Vietnam Investment Review has reported. The plant's first phase is slated for completion in May 2024. Head of the board Tran Ngoc Hung described the plant's investment licence as a good start to the year for the province and the investor. He said his board would create all the most favourable conditions for the investor while coordinating with relevant departments to solve difficulties promptly, so that it could soon put the project into operation. Ritual to erect “Neu” pole re-captured
PANO - The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre on February 11 th re-captured a ceremony to erect the “Neu” (bamboo) pole at the Hue Royal Palace in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province, to welcome the 2015 Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. During the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), the ceremony was held on December 23 rd of the lunar calendar, starting the Tet holiday. A tall bamboo pole was erected with some ritual items, like a seal, pen brush and swords, which were guarded by soldiers, to be hung on its top. The pole is believed to help prevent evils, and to worship their ancestors and drive the past year's bad luck away and welcome good luck for the Lunar New Year. 15-year-old Vietnamese girl dies after drinking alcohol at Tet party
A grade-9 schoolgirl in Yen Bai Province, northern Vietnam has succumbed to her critical condition after drinking liquor at a party during the past Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, local authorities reported on Saturday. The girl, identified only as M., died on Thursday, the last day of the seven-day Tet break, after she attended a drinking party at her friend’s house two days earlier in Ban Cong Commune of the province’s Tram Tau District. As the party was taking place, M. stepped out of the house and then fell down, Hang A Hanh, deputy chairman of the Ban Cong administration, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper. The girl was unconscious when being found by her friends and was taken to a local hospital immediately for emergency treatment, but she died two days later at the age of 15, Hanh said. The figure was nearly 22.4 billion USD in 2022. Deputy Director of the FIA Do Van Su said disbursement of foreign investment this year is expected to hit 22-23 billion USD,. Su acknowledged that the opening of China’s economy might affect Vietnam's foreign investment attraction, adding that China remained the leading investment destination in the region, so when they opened up, capital will flow into this market while that to Vietnam and other economies in the region will be limited.
