The ceremony to sign the minute to transfer Chan May port from Vinashin Group to Thua Thien Hue province for management took place at the office of the Provincial People's Committee in the morning of 30 June 2011. Chan MayPort which is an integrated port in the key economic zone in the Central region serves the development of industry, trade and services. To the East West Economic Corridor Chan May port is a gate which can lead to the OrientalSea in the closest and most favorable way. It can connect the Central region of Vietnam to the Lower Central Laos, the North Eastern Thailand, Myanmar. Chan May port was firstly built (Wharf No.1) on 25 March 2001 and on 19 May 2003 Wharf No. 1 was put into operation.People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province managed the Port. On 25 may 2007 Thua Thien Hue Province People's Committee transferred the Port to Vinashin Group for management. By 19.00 dated 22 May 2011, Thua Thien Hue province ended the election for delegations of the National Assembly Session XIII and the People's Council of all levels in the term 2011-2016 with the ratio of consituents reaching 99,99%. In which, three districts and towns ended the election early and successfully, reaching 100 percent. In accordance with the report of the provincial electoral committee, in Thua Thien Hue there are 790,190 consituents in the list of the province. In which, 790.118 voters casted their ballots, reaching the ratio of 99.99%. Photo: VNS Central Thua Thien-Hue province has so far this year licensed four foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a combined registered capital of almost 283 million USD, bringing the province’s number of FDI projects to 41 and its total FDI capital to 595 million USD. The Singaporean Bayan Tree group has received a license for a 276 million USD project to build a luxury tourism and service complex on a 200 ha area in the Chan May-Lang Co economic zone. The remaining three projects will build in an entertainment centre, a super market and produce building materials. Hong Kong’s Industrial Group Luks is applying for its 5 th and 4,000 tonnes per day clinker production system in Thua Thien-Hue and plans to build a 100 MW thermal power plant at a cost of 100 million USD in the 2008-2009 period. Meanwhile, its Lucks Cement Plant's current annual capacity of 1.4 million tonnes will be raised to 1.8 million tonnes in the near future.
