An art performance celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Dong Loc Victory is being produced by the Vietnam Women's Museum and director Le Quy Duong. Titled Huyen Thoai Thanh Xuan (Legend of Youth), the performance is dedicated to 10 young female volunteers who gave their lives for the Dong Loc Victory during the anti-American war. Dong Loc T-junction is located in Dong Loc Commune in the Central province of Ha Tinh, on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. The stage is designed to recreate the Dong Loc battlefield. From 1965 to 1968, the US Army dropped nearly 50,000 bombs and fired tens of thousands of missiles on the Dong Loc T-junction to cut off the transport route to the southern front. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, 72 countries recognize Vietnam as a market economy, including Canada, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. The UK did so recently with an official letter to the effect. Speaking to VnExpress , a Trade Remedies Authority Department official said since its first anti-dumping investigation case against Vietnam in 2002 the U.S. had been considering the country a non-market economy. In a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo in Washington last Tuesday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed the U.S. to soon recognize Vietnam’s market economy status . Truck driver covers up license plate to drive backwards on HCMC expressway
The driver on Wednesday said he was driving his truck on the expressway in the direction from Dong Nai to HCMC. As the truck missed an intersection between the expressway and National Highway 51 by about 200 m, the man stopped, used a sheet to cover his plate numbers, then drove it backwards to prevent being fined. However, the entire action was filmed by surveillance cameras. The fine for covering up license plates and running backwards on an expressway was handed out by a traffic police patrol team on Wednesday. Several drivers on expressways have been found to be covering up their plates using tapes and sheets before violating traffic rules in recent times. The index closed 1.4 points lower after gaining 15.9 points Wednesday. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), on which the index is based, dropped 12.6% to VND15.9 trillion ($651.77 million). The VN30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 18 tickers fell. SSB of Southeast Asia Commercial Bank (SeABank) dropped 4.8% and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank fell 3.3%. VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail closed 2.5% lower and SAB of brewer Sabeco declined by 2.3%. Ten blue chips gained, led by PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex with a 3.3% increase. Vietnam among the world’s principal instant noodle consumers
Data from WINA estimates that in 2022, China’s national noodle demand amounted to nearly 45 billion servings, followed by Indonesia at 14.2 billion, and Vietnam with 8.48 billion. This means each Vietnamese person consumed an average of 85 packs a year, ranking first globally. The report indicates that the instant-noodle demand among Vietnamese decreased slightly between 2021 and 2022, with the figures down by nearly 1 per cent. However, the 8.6 billion packs sold in 2021 marked an increase of more than 20 per cent compared to 2020. Vietnam is home to about 50 instant noodle producers, offering a diverse range of options and price points. Dominated by four major instant noodle makers, namely Acecook Vietnam, Masan Consumer, Uniben, and Asia Foods, the competition in Vietnam's instant noodle market is becoming fiercer.
