Dragon Hill: Wake up ‘Forgotten Paradise’

A new resort project right in the open sea of Dragon Hill complex has been submitted for permission to become an attractive island, with the potential to attract tourists for longer stay and to discover more about the beautiful landscapes of the northern city of Hai Phong. Hai Phong is the largest port city in the north of Vietnam and is also the country’s third largest commercial and economic center. The city is just behind Hanoi on scale and rate of development in the north and is one of the five municipalities, one of the national first-grade centers, alongside the central city of Da Nang and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. Hai Phong is also known as the “Land of Port,” or “Port City,” as it has plenty of tourism potentials associated with the sea. The city possesses a long coastline of over 125 kilometers, which is low and quite flat. Especially, Do Son in Hai Phong is always one of the most crowded beaches in the north of Vietnam. Only 22 kilometers to the southeast from the center of Hai Phong, Do Son has long been known as an ideal holiday destination, maintaining an important position in the economic and social development of Hai Phong in particular, and the northern coast in general. Despite having many advantages such as convenient transport network spanning across different topographies of sea and mountains, Do Son has yet to utilize its advantages to cover the huge shortage of Vietnamese tourism at the present time. The lack of ideas, models and operational methods has prevented the resorts of standards and quality in the city from running properly promotion and investment to help foster its tourism. Fairly speaking, the geographic location, the people and scenery of Hai Phong and Do Son are highly recognized for the potential tourism development in the country, thanks to the advantage of a trading gateway for customs clearance and shipping. With all necessary and sufficient factors, Hai Phong is always the first choice for investors. …

Nguyen Thi Nga – Top Vietnamese influencer

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh granted Madame Nga a certificate for her valuable contributions to the ASEAN business community BRG Group, under the apt leadership of chairwoman Nguyen Thi Nga, has gone out of its way to share the burdens of the communities in Vietnam and incite businesses across the ASEAN to greater action for the common good. Last year’s difficulties forced a halt to most large-scale community events. But going against the grain, the ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) were still organised to honour the bloc’s best performers, continuing an annual tradition going back to 2007. Nga, an organiser of ABA 2020, shared that the year was a hard one for both ASEAN and Vietnamese businesses but it was also a year for kind-hearted actions and activities that need to be recognised and honoured. “That is the reason why we could not allow the ceremony to be cancelled – to highlight businesses which have not only been working to maintain development but also to make significant contributions to the prevention of the pandemic,” she said. “The prime minister expressed his full support for us to organise the annual event. His belief was great motivation for us to go ahead with this prestigious and meaningful ceremony for the business community during the hard time of the pandemic,” Nga shared with VIR. As a result, 58 corporations from across ASEAN were honoured in 10 categories at ABA 2020 last November in Hanoi, sharing the stories of each entrepreneur and business to inspire the public and the entrepreneurial community to greater action. “In 2020, many ASEAN businesses and entrepreneurs have been on the frontlines of COVID-19 action. The business community has helped mitigate the damage on the regional economy while ensuring jobs for employees and maintaining business growth,” Nga said. “At the same time, they have contributed great and valuable resources to epidemic prevention and control in their respective countries. This dedication deserves to …

Swedish initiative invites men to talk about gender equality

The Embassy of Sweden Hanoi has just introduced "globalguytalk" initiative in Vietnam, on the International women's day 2021. The aim is to start conversations between men that can influence attitudes and increase gender equality. Swedish Ambassador Ann Måwe speaks at the event "In collaboration between the non-profit foundation Make Equal, the Swedish Institute “guy dinner” now goes international and becomes #globalguytalk. It is exciting to launch it in Vietnam today. The aim is to give men the chance to participate in conversations about how norms and expectations form them, and how they can contribute to creating a more equal society", said Swedish Ambassador Ann Måwe at the opening of the event on March 8 in Hanoi. "The overall objective of gender equality is a society in which women and men enjoy the same opportunities, rights, and obligations in all spheres of life. One part of achieving that is for men to understand their chance to be a part of positive change and to reflect on their own situation. My belief is that it is necessary for a healthy family relationship that men talk to each other and overcome prevailing patriarchal mentalities of not sharing emotions", Ambassador Måwe added. #globalguytalk can be seen as a follow-up to the highly appreciated photo exhibition Swedish Dads by photographer Johan Bävman – shown in over 70 countries worldwide including Vietnam. This inspired quite a few similar initiatives in Vietnam during the last few years including Vietnamese Dads and Equal Families. With #globalguytalk we wish to build on the experiences from Swedish Dads – stepping up the work with men and boys in support of a gender equal society. The first #globalguytalk in Vietnam is arranged in cooperation with the Vietnamese Women Museum. Nguyen Hai Van, Director of the Vietnam Women's Museum said "Besides preserving and introducing the heritage of Vietnamese women to the public at home and abroad, the …
