VinGroup kick-starts global science-technology award

The announcement was made on International Human Solidarity Day - December 20. The award encourages the creation of positive changes in the daily lives of millions of people on the Earth via bolstering scientific research and technological innovation. VinFuture Prize honours outstanding intellectuals regardless of their nationalities, genders and ages, whose research studies and inventions help address global challenges such as raising quality of health and life, poverty eradication, elimination of famine, and access to advanced education and clean water. It comprises VinFuture Grand Prize and three special prizes totalling VND104.5 billion (US$4.5 million). The US$3 million VinFuture Grand Prize is one of the most impressive awards in the field of science-technology worldwide. The three special prizes worth VND11.5 billion (US$500,000) each will be presented to those of developing countries, pioneers in new fields and female researchers or scientists, which is the largest cash prize for them so far. The jury of VinFuture Prize includes prestigious scientists and inventors across the globe. The jury includes prestigious scientists and inventors across the globe, notably Prof. Gérard Mourou, who was awarded a Nobel Prize in Physics in 2018, and Sir Richard Henry Friend - a Cavendish Professor of Physics at the University of Cambridge. National Technology Innovation program until 2030 issued

Design of the National Innovation Center (Photo: baodautu.vn) The program aims to facilitate and support enterprises to transfer, innovate and perfect technologies, create high quality products with high added value; promote the transfer of technologies for agricultural development in rural and mountainous areas and regions; and train scientific and technological human resources for technology transfer, renewal and improvement. The specific target is that by 2025, the number of enterprises implementing technology innovation will increase by an average of 15% per year; and 100% of enterprises producing key products will directly participate in the programme to form research and development organizations. There are 3-5 key product industries that own or create advanced technologies in the value chain to produce products with high added value and competitiveness in the market. It also aims to increase labour productivity on the basis of technological innovation, especially in industries and fields of high added value, high export value and high technology use. Enterprises directly participating in the program are expected to have labour productivity at least 1.5 times higher than their labour productivity without technological innovation. Each economic region should form at least one typical technology transfer application research model, suitable to the specific conditions of the locality, for replication. Vietnam to hold first International Innovation Exhibition in 2021

The Hanoitimes - The exhibition demonstrates Vietnam as an attractive destination for regional innovators in the new era. The first Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition (VIIE) will take place on January 9, 2021, at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hanoi, with the participation of domestic and foreign investment funds, large corporations, small and medium enterprises, among others. Photo: VGP The exhibition will display technology solutions in the fields of smart cities, smart factories, AI cameras, digital technology, agricultural aircraft, and virtual reality technologies. Within the framework of the exhibition, a series of seminars will focus on discussing cooperation issues, attracting investment resources for innovation, creating a new driving force for Vietnam's economic growth in the coming period. At the press conference on December 29 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong said that 2021 is a pivotal year for implementing the innovation strategy, taking advantage of the 4th Industrial Revolution to change mindset and innovation culture. At the VIIE 2021, more than 150 booths will display Vietnam’s innovative products, technologies, and ideas. There will also be workshops and connecting activities between those involved in the innovation ecosystem and a STEAM festival for students. The exhibition is expected to be an annual event on innovation and building innovative connections between experts, institutions, businesses, international corporations, investment funds, and organizations in order for Vietnam to be the destination of regional innovation in the new era.
