Illustrative image (Photo: nation thailand .com) Bangkok (VNA) - Thailand's domestic car and motorcycle sales may suffer the brunt if Thai financial institutions are affected by the risk of bank failures in the US and Europe, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). The concern was raised after US and European banking executives and regulators stepped in to save California-based Silicon Valley Bank, New York-based Signature Bank and 167-year-old Credit Suisse in Switzerland from potential crisis. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, FTI Vice Chairman, said that if the financial turbulence cannot be contained, the global financial system will be affected, which may eventually have a negative impact on Thai banks and non-banks that grant loans to car and motorcycle buyers. Thailand intensifies measures to fight drug influx    (Photo: VNA) Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai army has tightened security along the northern border following reports of greater quantities and varieties of illegal drug s flowing into the country from Myanmar. He added that narcotics production is now faster and cheaper, which makes the product more accessible, especially via online dark web sales. As many as 29 districts, covering provinces in the northern and northeastern regions, have reported recent drug smuggling activity. The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has laid charges in 219 narcotics cases since October, with 233 suspects arrested and nearly 432 million THB (nearly 13 million USD) worth of properties seized along the way, he said.
