A family in Thai Nguyen Province, northern Vietnam on Wednesday voluntarily handed over six tigers they had kept in captivity for nearly 20 years to the Hanoi Wild Animal Rescue Center in Hanoi. The Thai Nguyen Department of Forest Protection and its subordinate in Thai Nguyen City of the namesake province coordinated with the Hanoi Department of Forest Protection and the Hanoi Wild Animal Rescue Center received the six tigers from the family of Nguyen Khac Thuong, residing in Thinh Dan Commune, Thai Nguyen City. The six tigers would be sent to the Hanoi Wild Animal Rescue Center for further care. In a video that has been circulating on the Internet since Wednesday, Jocelyn Chia joked about how Malaysian airplanes "cannot fly" during a stand-up performance at a comedy club in the U.S. "Malaysian Airlines going missing not funny huh?" she said in the video. "Some jokes don't land," she added, seemingly referring to the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines MH370, with 239 people on board now presumed dead. She also made crude remarks about Malaysia as a country, with quips like "they don't have Internet." The jokes drew quick criticisms from online communities and authorities from both Malaysia and Singapore alike. OVs visit Truong Sa, DK1 platforms
The visit was in the program themed “10th Trust and Aspiration for the Fatherland - Overseas Vietnam (OVs) to Truong Sa,” which concluded on April 23 in Khanh Hoa province. This was the tenth trip jointly organized for OVs by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOV), and the Naval Command. According to Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, since 2013, the SCOV and the Naval Command have brought over 500 OVs to visit Truong Sa island district and the DK1 platforms. On the morning of November 30 last year, Minh, now 29, received an email from his employers at DoorDash, the largest online food delivery company in the U.S. The company announced that it was letting him go. Just a day earlier, Minh was still the leader of one of the company’s finance management team. When he received the email, Minh had already studied and worked in the finance field in the U.S. for over a decade. Work on 4 southern Vietnam expys could start simultaneously in mid-June
The Ministry of Transport is seeking the prime minister’s nod to concurrently break ground on four expressway projects in southern Vietnam, namely Beltway No. 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, and Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang, on June 18. The ministry said in a report sent to the prime minister that the localities in charge of the development of these road projects had suggested different dates, ranging from June 17 to 30, and different locations to break ground on them. To ensure the groundbreaking ceremonies take place in a formal and cost-efficient manner, the ministry proposed that they should be held on June 18 in a hybrid format in four locations.
