Overseas Vietnamese visit Truong Sa island district and DK1 platforms
The visit, spanning from May 17-25, was delayed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the visit, overseas Vietnamese (OV) were updated on information related to the daily life and working conditions of officers and soldiers on duty in Truong Sa (Spratly) island district and on DK1 platforms. Meanwhile, OVs were engaged in many activities, including presenting gifts to troops and local people in the island district, visiting schools, residents’ houses, and pagodas on cays, attending a flag-salute ceremony, offering incense to heroic martyrs and President Ho Chi Minh, to name but a few. Through the visit, OVs have had a better understanding of the national sea and islands, contributing to tightening the close ties between the military and the people, and Vietnamese people at home and abroad as well. Millions of travelers book tours for summer vacation

TV shows promoting traditional culture to be screened
The shows are the result of co-operation between VOV and the Vietnam Film Studio (VFS). Launched last month, Vietnam Journey aims to honor Vietnamese culture and tourism. The screening of these shows is a part of the effort, according to Nguyen The Ky, General Director of the VOV. “We are introducing two shows for the Tet holiday to give viewers a chance to relax and enjoy interesting stories,” he said. “The stories are told in a tender and humorous way to call on people to preserve the country’s fine traditions.” Vuong To (Beauty of Silk) tells the story of Van Phuc Silk Village in Ha Dong district, where the trade of weaving silk has been nurtured for centuries. Vietjet, Boeing reach agreement on 200-aircraft contract
The agreement was reached during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the U.S. and United Nations for the ASEAN-U.S. Special Summit held in Washington D.C. Vietjet’s contract with Boeing is one of the significant deals contributing to the countries’ bilateral trade balance and has been forged through three U.S. Presidencies with important strides following diplomatic and economic development milestones between the two countries in the recent years. Vietnam-UK agreement creates leverage for bilateral trade
Bilateral trade recovery According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, after two years of COVID-19, trade between Vietnam and the UK recovered in 2021, reaching nearly US$6.6 billion.
