Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, China from April 25 to 27. The trip will be made at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on Monday. The Vietnamese premier will attend the forum’s opening on April 26 before joining President Xi and his spouse in a dinner on the evening of the same day. On April 27, PM Phuc is scheduled to speak at a roundtable summit attended by leaders of 36 other nations and China. The Vietnamese head of government is also expected to hold bilateral talks with top Chinese leaders during his China trip. In his remarks, Ngo Sy Anh, General Manager of Vietnam Airlines branch in Japan, affirmed the importance of the Japanese market to the company. Before the pandemic, the airline ran 68 flights every week to connect four major cities of Japan to Vietnam’s Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. In 2019, it carried 1.6 million passengers on these routes. With the Vietnamese Government deciding to resume regular international flights from January 1 last year, Vietnam Airlines is now operating 42 flights linking the countries. According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Tuyen, Political Officer of the first Engineering Company, the unit has completed the construction of a house to present to an immigrant family in Abyei as a gift. The nine-member family has immigrated to Abyei and lived in a 5-6sq.m tattered tent around 300m from the company’s barracks. Phathi is a cluster of villages that has received significant investment from the Government of Vietnam since 2009 to build essential infrastructure projects such as roads, clean water systems, schools, clinics, cultural centers, and agricultural extension programs. However, due to the lack of funds for maintenance and repairs, a number of construction items have deteriorated over time. To address this, the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of National Defense recently received approval from the Prime Ministers of the two countries to support the maintenance, repairs, and upgrade of essential infrastructure works, particularly the clean water supply systems and school sites.
