Domestic air transport sees fast recovery, airlines suffer loss due to rising fuel prices

At a conference of the Transport Ministry reviewing its work in the first half of the year on June 28, Thang said as fuel costs account for 40-50% of operation costs, revenues increases are not sufficient to compensate for high fuel prices. He said domestic aviation transport has fully recovered with higher growth than in the pre-pandemic period. Vietnamese eleventh grader builds VW Beetle-style electric car

A Vietnamese eleventh grader has completed creating an electric vehicle that has basic parts of an ordinary car and can carry two people at the maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour. The 400-kilogram automobile, which harks back to the vintage Volkswagen Beetle design, was made by Ngo Viet Cuong, a student at Tong Van Tran High School in Nam Dinh Province, near Hanoi. Cuong has been interested in playing with engines and mechanical equipment since he was a little kid. His father, Ngo Van Ngoc, said the son had fun with new toys only for a few days before taking them apart and putting them back together. The child also tried fitting machine parts into tools he found in his father’s automobile repair shop. When Cuong grew older, he learned the basic workings of automobile engines while helping his father with sundry jobs in the garage. Six-month traffic accidents claim over 5,684 lives, down 2.7%
As many as 5,684 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, killing 3,286 people during the first six months of the year, according to a statement made by the General Statistics Office (GSO) on June 29. During the reviewed period, the number of cases dropped by 10.4%, while the number of deaths increased by 2.7%. The daily average throughout the six month period stood at 31 accidents, 19 deaths, and 11 injuries. Most notably, between May 15 and June 14, 951 accidents occurred. Furthermore, June witnessed the number of traffic accidents increase by 2.8% compared to the previous month, with a rise of 15.3% on-year compared to the same period from last year.
