Prime Minister agreed Ministry of Information and Communications to preside, host 15th Telecom Ministerial Conference and ASEAN Information Technology and related conferences in Vietnam in 2015. Prime Minister asked Ministry of Information and Communication presides, coordinates with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of People’s Public Security and relevant authorities to prepare for conference. Ministry of Information and Communications said, Telecommunication Ministerial Conference and ASEAN Information Technology is periodically held according to rotating mechanisms, in 2015 Vietnam will host to hold the conference. Vietnam and India to enhance IT co-operation
Nhan Dan Online - During discussions with Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communication Nguyen Bac Son in New Delhi on July 4, Indian Minister of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) Kapil Sibal stressed the significance of two memorandums of understanding (MoU) on IT co-operation between the two ministries. The MoU between the Vietnam Radio Frequency Department and the India Wireless Planning and Co-ordination Wing, and the MoU between the Vietnam Telecommunications Authority and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India lay groundwork for the two ministries to enhance their co-operation in frequency and telecommunications, and for both countries' business community to take action on the signed documents. ASEAN- India business fair opens in New Delhi
ASEAN - India Business Fair 2011 opened in New Delhi, India on Wednesday to promote business relations and investments between India and ASEAN countries. It is the first fair of its kind hosted in India with the participation of 10 ASEAN countries after the ASEAN - India Free Trading Agreement took effect on January 1 last year. The fair covers a total area of 16,000 square meters and has the participation of 350 businesses from 11 nations displaying commodities in various fields including aviation, information technology, telecommunication, tourism, electronics, power and precious stones. The fair is on till March 6. India eyes Internet revolution to reach rural areas
India said Thursday it aims to sharply expand its national broadband network as it seeks a "revolution" to bring high-speed Internet to the country's rural heartland. India is the world's fastest-growing cellular market with some 700 million people having mobile phone services but Internet penetration has trailed badly. At present, the number of broadband connections stands at only 10.3 million. "We need to provide broadband connections to rural India on a scale similar to the revolution we had in mobile connectivity," said Gurudas Kamat, minister of state for communications. "Broadband for all should be our mantra," Kamat said at the opening of a telecommunications conference in New Delhi. The left-leaning Congress government sees access to broadband as a way to bolster education, health care, banking and other services and help lift hundreds of millions of Indians out of poverty.
