(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The current trends in economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the US guarantee big growth in two-way trade and investment in next 10 years and warrant upgrading the partnership to a strategic level, said Ted Osius , President and CEO of the US - ASEAN Business Council ( USABC ). In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency ahead of the 10th anniversary of the two countries’ comprehensive partnership (July 2013 - 2023), the former US Ambassador to Vietnam said trade and investment play a big role in this relationship. 220-metre-long ao dai sets Guinness Vietnam Record
A 220.60-metre long, 250-kilos ao dai has just set a Guinness Vietnam Record for the longest ao dai in Vietnam. Designer Phuong Ho (second from right) receives Guinness Vietnam Record for her longest ao dai in Vietnam on May 25. According to Vietnamese fashion designer Phuong Ho, the Non Song Gam Voc (Beautiful Homeland) ao dai was made from brocade. It was completed within nearly two months by her team and 20 embroidery artists. "The flap, made from 31 pieces of brocade, features cultural and historic characteristics and landscapes of Vietnam and 3D images of lotus leaves," she said. “It is a great challenge for me and my team to complete the ao dai.” The work is recognised for helping to honour Vietnamese traditional costume, and introduce and promote Vietnam's landscapes. Vietnam looks to be among 30 most competitive tourism nations worldwide
The Vietnamese government issued a resolution on solutions to accelerate tourism recovery and develop tourism sustainably and effectively on Thursday, moving toward turning Vietnam into one of the world’s 30 leading countries with the highest tourism competitiveness. As per the resolution, the government tasks the Ministry of Public Security with completing the immigration policy and creating more favorable conditions for foreign visitors to enter, stay in, and leave the country. Besides, the ministry is also in charge of expanding the list of nations eligible for e-visa application. 4 girls drown while bathing in canal in central Vietnam
Police in Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam on Saturday evening managed to recover the last body of four schoolchildren who drowned while bathing in a local canal. The fatal incident took place at around 4:00 pm the same day, according to police officers. A group of five schoolchildren went out to pick lotus flowers before taking a bath in the canal leading to the Song Quao Lake section bordering the two communes of Ham Phu and Thuan Minh in Ham Thuan Bac District. When four of the schoolchildren, all girls, were bathing in the canal, they were swept away by rushing water. The remaining one, a schoolboy, who was standing on the canal bank, shouted out for help. Several local residents rushed to the scene of the incident and recovered the bodies of three of the girls, while the fourth body was retrieved by local police in the evening. The four deceased were studying at an elementary school in Ham Phu Commune.
