These publications are divided into the fields of natural sciences; science and technology; medical science, pharmacy; agricultural science; social sciences and humanities. Several rare and precious documents and ancient books on geology, agriculture, flora and fauna, and climate-related to the development of science, technology, society and economy in the early twentieth century are also on display. Vietnam’s agricultural sector urged to modernize technology
At a seminar on using science and technology to improve agricultural productivity and quality held in Can Tho city last week, Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung said the Mekong Delta plays an important role in the country’s agricultural production, contributing 55 percent of the country’s rice output, 69 percent of seafood and 70 percent of fruits. It also accounts for more than 90 percent of rice exports and 60 percent of seafood exports. But much of it is sold as raw products at low value. Inconsistent quality is a problem that plagues the region. Climate change and global integration have also adversely impacted the delta’s agricultural production, Tung said. According to Trinh Ngoc Minh, a member of the Executive Committee of Vietnam Information Security Association’s (VNISA) southern branch, Vietnam has significantly improved its data privacy protection capabilities and was listed among the top 25 countries and territories (out of 194) in the 2020 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI). High-tech agriculture complex construction starts in Gia Lai
The groundbreaking ceremony of DHN Gia Lai high-technology agricultural complex in the Central Highlands Province of Gia Lai. — Photo courtesy of Hung Nhon Group Construction of the DHN Gia Lai high-technology agricultural complex has begun in the Central Highlands Province of Gia Lai. Situated in Ia Le Commune in Chu Puh District, the VND1 trillion (US$44.6 million) complex is the fourth project developed by Hung Nhon Group and the Netherlands' De Heus. It will be built on an area of around 100ha and include a pig farm with a capacity of 2,500 head imported from the Netherlands, an organic fertiliser factory, and an organic farming area. It will have modern technologies throughout the breeding process to control livestock quality, optimise livestock performance and reduce costs. There will be a grid-connected solar power system to help substantially reduce CO2 emissions.
