HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City is striving to complete the target of new-style rural building in the direction of developing hi-tech urban agricultural areas by December 31. Accordingly, the city aims to have all the communes meeting advanced new-style rural criteria for the period of 2016 - 2020, and Can Gio and Binh Chanh districts recorgnised as new-style rural areas. Half of its communes are expected to obtain model new-style rural area status in 2021 - 2025. Permanent Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem said the city is working to effectively implement measures to mobilize resources and contributions from locals for the programme. Hanoi (VNA) - Experts have suggested Vietnamese enterprises improve product quality standards to overcome barriers imposed by the fastidious yet promising EU market, thus optimising the advantages to be generated from the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). A resolution ratifying the EVFTA and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement sailed through the National Assembly at its ongoing ninth session in Hanoi on June 8, with more than 90 percent of delegates voting in approval. According to Luong Hoang Thai, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Multilateral Trade Policy Department, Vietnam makes up only 2 percent of imports by the EU - the world’s second largest importer - due to the competition with other economies.
