Vietnam’s 222 coconut-based dishes set world record
On Monday, more than 55 chefs divided into 11 teams participated in an event to process hundreds of coconut-based delicacies in Ben Tre to set a world record in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Vietnamese cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu (1822-1888), whose hometown was Ben Tre. The delicacies are made from different parts of the coconut tree, including coconut palm heart, shredded coconut, desiccated coconut, coconut milk, coconut water and sprouted coconut. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi, vice chairwoman of Ben Tre, said this was a great pride of Ben Tre people and the world record helps to promote its culture and tourism image to international visitors. During talks with the heads of multinational companies Gedeon Richter and Egis, the NA Chairman said that pharmaceuticals had great potential for cooperation in Viet Nam with multiple preferential policies. Specialising in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, Gedeon Richter’s products entered the Vietnamese market in 1954 and officially established a representative office in 1995. Delayed flights add to airport congestion
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi are increasingly congested these days. On Monday evening, VietJet Flight VJ149, scheduled to depart at 7 pm at Noi Bai for HCM City, was delayed until 10:30 pm. A passenger said that he had to cancel a tour along with his friend in HCM City due to the rescheduled flight. Spending five hours at the airports just to wait left him very tired. On Sunday, Vietnam Airlines Flight VN221 from HCM City to Hanoi was around two hours late. VietJet Flight VJ151 was four hours late, while, Bamboo Airlines Flight QH292 was delayed for one hour on June 24. Many other flights from Noi Bai or Tan Son Nhat airports to different localities also suffered delays. Under the Laws on Civil Aviation, in cases where flights are delayed for 4-6 hours, airlines have to provide free food and drinks for passengers. Hai Phong attracts more foreign direct investment in H1

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The northern city of Hai Phong has attracted 755.75 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) to local industrial parks (IPs) and economic zones (EZs) in the first half of 2022, raising total FDI there to 22.07 billion USD. According to the Hai Phong EZ Authority, the amount was channelled into 21 new FDI projects and 18 existing ones. It is equivalent to 56.2% of the FDI registered in the same period last year. At present, IPs and EZs in the city are home to 438 FDI projects worth 22.07 billion USD in total and 195 domestic investment projects worth 12.57 billion USD. Head of the authority Le Trung Kien said from now to 2025, the 15 IPs in the city will be expanded to 6,418ha from the current 6,074ha. The Soc Son District court sentenced Nguyen Van Cuong, 40, to 10 years in prison on Tuesday after finding him guilty of "robbery" and "arresting people illegally." On the same charges, the court sentenced Nguyen Tuan Anh, 21, to seven years, while two other defendants, Duong Van Quy, 27, and Duong Van Cuong, 28, received nine years each. According to the verdict, around 0:22 a.m. on Jul. 11, 2018, Dao Cong Thanh, 56, and four others took two boats to a section of the Cau River in Trung Gia Commune of Soc Son District to mine sand illegally. The boats were anchored around 30m from the bank, next to a farm owned by Cuong. On learning about the sand mining, he mobilized Anh, Quy and Cuong to join him in chasing the sand thieves away.
