The Consular Club of Ho Chi Minh City (Consular Club HCMC) hosted a fundraising dinner in the city on Saturday evening to raise funds for disadvantaged children, minority girls, and needy people in southern Vietnam. The Consular Club Fundraising Dinner 2023, an annual event with the ‘Stronger Together’ theme, took place at Continental Saigon Hotel in the city’s downtown District 1, attracting representatives from 19 countries, diplomatic missions, and business communities. First carbon credit trading platform ASEAN launched in Việt Nam

Starting in October 2023, the 27 member countries of the European Union initiated a pilot for carbon taxation on all exports to their market using the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The US will be the next market to implement carbon taxation on imports in 2024, and in the future, many more countries in the Americas and Asia are expected to follow this trend. Vietnam’s first voluntary carbon exchange launched
All 27 E.U. member states are expected to begin piloting their Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) from October 2023, with the aim of ensuing a level playing field for European businesses by imposing a carbon border tax on imports from countries that do not apply equivalent carbon pricing measures. The U.S. will also levy the carbon tariff in 2024, and more major markets in American and Asia are expected to follow suit. As a major exporter to the E.U. and the U.S., Vietnamese enterprises should work to ensure that their products meet green standards, as well as improve their competitive edge in long term. “Ba Ria-Vung Tau has met all the conditions to develop a logistics centre and international transshipment seaport,” said Nguyen Van Tho, Chairman of Ba Ria-Vung Tau People’s Committee, at the Logistics Development Linkage Conference on September 8. Tho said that logistics has been identified as one of the four economic pillars of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, thereby driving provincial socioeconomic development. As of the present, the province has developed a diverse logistics service system, with more than 300 businesses providing goods transportation and logistics warehousing services. Ba Ria-Vung Tau has all the necessary conditions to develop a logistics hub, given that the local seaport system has taken shape. The province is now home to 69 planned seaports and 50 projects in operation, with a total design capacity of 152 million tonnes per year. VN initiates anti-dumping investigation wind towers imported from China
Local producers were proposing an anti-dumping tax rate of 97 per cent on wind towers imported from China. — VNA/VNS Photo The Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued Decision No 2494/QĐ-BCT to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on wind towers imported from China. The investigation was carried out following a complaint by domestic producers lodged by CS WIND Việt Nam Limited and the Southern Renewable and Green Energy Company Limited. Domestic producers claimed that the dumping of wind towers originating from China into the Vietnamese market has caused significant damage to local production, the ministry said in the statement. If necessary, the Ministry of Industry and Trade could apply temporary anti-dumping measures to prevent the dumping activities from continuing to cause significant damage to the domestic manufacturing industry.
