Tan Son Nhat International Airport said it expects to handle 134,200 passengers a day between January 20 and February 19, some 17,500 more than the last Tet season early this year. The two busiest days, February 2 and 10, will see respectively 900 and 890 planes flying into and out of the airport. February 2 would in fact see the highest number of flights ever in its history, according to the airport, which serves around 650 flights on a normal day. Domestic airlines are set to increase the number of flights during the festival to meet the surging demand. The airport customs force found three handguns, two daggers and a pair of handcuffs hidden in the luggage of the passenger, who hails from the southern province of Long An. The 48-year-old man arrived on flight NH833 from the US to Vietnam via Tokyo (Japan). The golf course in Tan Son Nhat Airport will be closed for airport expansion according to the latest golf course planning by the Department of Planning and Architecture. Tan Son Nhat Airport golf course to shut According to Resolution 795 about golf course development plan to 2020, HCM City will adjust five golf course plans including the golf course and services at Tan Son Nhat Airport. Two golf courses will be adjusted and shutdown. The 160-hectare golf course at Tan Son Nhat Airport with hotel and entertainment complex will be replaced with hangars, cargo terminal and maintenance and repair areas. The golf course at District 2 will be converted into an urban area while three other golf courses will be narrowed down. If the proposal of Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to build the third terminal for Tan Son Nhat International Airport is approved, the construction of the airport will be started in the third quarter of 2020. ACV awaits the prime minister's approval for the third terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport ACV has submitted a document to the Ministry of Transport (MoT) proposing the prime minister to approve the investment planning for Tan Son Nhat’s third terminal. Accordingly, the third terminal, which covers an area of 100,000 square metres, will handle 20 million passengers per year. The project will have a total investment capital of VND11.65 trillion ($506.5 million), invested by ACV and will be recouped within 23 years.
