Energy-efficient buildings on the rise in Vietnam

The energy used by high-rise buildings in Vietnam accounts for around 35-40 percent of the country’s total energy consumption . A survey by real estate service firm Cushman & Wakefield (CWK) showed that around 40 percent of gas emissions came from real estate. According to the Vietnam Green Building Council, there are about 200 green buildings across the country. At the United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2021 (COP26), Vietnam committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The Plastics Innovation Hub aims to reduce plastic waste in Vietnam by driving collaboration and promoting using science and innovation. The hub is an initiative of Aus4Innovation – a development assistance program sponsored by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) – Australia’s national science agency, in strategic cooperation with Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
