The officials discussed the issue during the first working day of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-55) and relevant meetings which opened on August 3 in Cambodia – the Chair of ASEAN 2022. Single mum receives public support to save ailing child
A single mum in the southern province of Ben Tre has received financial support of over VND308 million (USD13,391) from the public to help save her small son from cancer after her story was published on Dantri/Dtinews. Nguyen Trang Linh, head of development at SANSE, founded in 2016 by students at the United Nations International School in Hanoi SANSE’s mission is to promote the sustainable growth of impoverished, geographically challenged, and agriculturally dependent regions in Vietnam; foster an understanding and connection between urban and rural communities; and promote the local educational systems and other learning opportunities as a tool to assist the sustainable growth of rural regions in Vietnam. We’re currently working to achieve these goals in the ethnic Tay village of Ban Lien in Lao Cai by providing infrastructure and education. Defense Minister urges speeding up disbursement for major projects
The defense chief made the request at a working session with the two departments on the implementation of and disbursement for the MND’s programs and projects on August 4. At the working session, representatives of the two departments reported that the MND’s disbursement rates in the first seven months of this year were higher than the national ones on average. In order to speed up the disbursement, the MND has issued a number of documents to adjust dozens of projects with low disbursement or inability to be fully disbursed to allocate the capital for new projects signed by the Prime Minister for the 2021-2025 period and approved by the MND for investment in 2022. Association chairman Vu Duc Giang Some of the concerns are real. Since the UFLPA became effective in June, Vietnam has witnessed certain impacts on its garment exports to the US. Vietnam has maintained its position as the world’s third-largest cotton importer with a volume of 1.5 million tonnes per year. This includes 800,000 tonnes of cotton imported from the US, accounting for 60 per cent of the total imports. In January 2021, US Customs and Border Protection announced a ban on raw fibres, apparel, and textiles made from Xinjiang-grown cotton, which also covers cotton products made in third countries. Customs will detain imported merchandise unless the importer can prove by clear and convincing evidence that the goods were not from Xinjiang.
