ROUNDTABLE: Seeking a boost for inbound tourism Speaking at the opening of the roundtable discussion, VIR's Editor-in-Chief Le Trong Minh shared, " Tourism is one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing economic sectors in the world today. Its importance in creating jobs and promoting growth is addressed in some of the Sustainable Development Goals in the United Nations Development programme." He cited statistics showing Vietnam's tourism created more than 1.3 million direct jobs in 2019, contributing 9.2 per cent of the country's total GDP (equivalent to $32.8 billion). Quang Ninh advised to focus on three pillars in tourism development
Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung made the suggestion at the province’s tourism development conference held in Ha Long city on March 17. He said Quang Ninh should develop special travel products that could not be found anywhere else, increase the popularization of its image, open overseas representative offices, and apply itself to tackling difficulties in tourism development such as manpower shortages and environmental pollution. Prof. Nguyen Duc Khuong, Chairman of the association, said the AVSE Global, whose predecessor was the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts in France, was established in Paris in 2011 with a view to connecting overseas Vietnamese scientists and experts to capitalise on their potential. With the participation of hundreds of Vietnamese experts and scientists around the world, it has been implementing a number of programs to support the homeland’s development. Vietnam reports fastest e-commerce growth in SE Asia: Deputy PM
Vietnam is the second fastest-growing digital economy in the world, following India, and has the fastest e-commerce growth in Southeast Asia, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said at the Vietnam Connect Forum 2023 held in Da Nang on Friday. According to the deputy prime minister, Vietnam has recorded an average digital economy growth rate of 38 percent per year over the past few years. The nation’s digital economy was valued at some US$23 billion last year. According to Google and Temasek, the value of Vietnam’s digital economy may reach $49 billion by 2025 and $120-200 billion by 2030.
